What’s more important; your mental health, or physical health?

Both equally

My physical health affects my mental health

Both. I tend to think of the body and mind as a whole, they work together so any negativity in one area affects the other.

Your health is your health. Either will ruin you if it fails.

What if you could only help one of those? You have medication for both. But the tablets clash, and you are only able to steady either your mental health, or physical health

Can I day both?

I couldn’t think of any thing worse than being mentally ok but trapped in a broken down body, and I’ve seen what happens to people when the mind starts to go before the body, that’s equally as bad

Then I'd steady my mental health, if only to minimise the trauma and potential danger to others.

I guess both .. but in reality I guess I tend to take more noticeable attention to my physical health than my mental health. I tend to shrug things off that are troubling me rather than address them head on at times. Whereas if I have a physical injury I’ll do whatever I can to sort it!

I guess it would depend on the issue and severity of each. I'd have to weigh up the pros and cons and implications of either.

Hiding in the shadows

Both are equally important to me but I'd say mental health is tougher to deal with.

Physical pains can be treated, healed, you can learn to live with certain issues.

But mental health problems are far harder to treat and still carry a huge stigma, that means alot of people don't seek help & go unsupported.

As someone who has ADHD & several accompanying issues, I am classed as having a mental health illness.

I took several decades for me to finally get the help & support I needed.

Also people accept physical disabilities more. My child has adhd amongst other things and I’m sure we wouldn’t get the looks and comments we get if she was having a meltdown in a wheelchair. So much ignorance around it drives me mad x

I have children that fall into both catorgaries.

I can sadly say you are correct.

People see a physical problem, and will go out of their way to help.

They see a child having a meltdown, and you're suddenly a bad parent with a spoilt brat!

Then I’d steady my mental health.

I agree with other posters that both are equally important. However, if your mental health is bad, you may not realise the effect it’s having on your physical wellbeing.

I’d say both, but I put my mental health on the back burner for a long time but that meant it got worse. Get your mental health stable then you can deal with the physical x

Quite often both mental and physical health are connected. A simple example of this is the panic you feel when you are in a queue and are bursting to use the toilet.

If I had to choose it would depend on which I’d the most serious problem. But I would want to hear from consultant doctors not gps. Especially in mental health, expert opinion is vital. The gp just sits there with the National Formula, trying to match your description of your symptoms to one of the list of drugs indicated.

Definitely mental health, it is the most powerful aspect of a human. With a healthy mind you can achieve and be anything you want xx

"What’s more important; your mental health, or physical health?"

Mental health if I had to choose. Having a good physical state is only of value it you and others can appreciate it with mental stability. No body would be that interested in me if my mental faculties were gone. My body would be of little use and value then, however my mind can be appreciated even if I can't be seen...like most of fab or social medias. I also could cope with physical deterioration but imagine the frustrations caused by mental deterioration. Think its the primary reason for suicides....

Loosing ones mind and all that entails is definitely the worst for me anyways.

I'd say mental more than physical. I seem to look after myself physically - not the most active but by habit I eat right and like to move about

But my head.. that feels like a hornet's nest at times that can seem to swamp me at a moment's notice. Needs far more attention.
