neither - i like um there for emergency escapes, but gone are the days of building up mahusive debt

now don't spend on them at all unless i know it can all be paid back within the 3 months after purchase

Sensible

My grandparents gave us some money to treat ourselves over christmas, we have put it to one side to pay for a new dining room ceiling. (That's boring lol)

Sensible.

In this climate, it's best to rid or at least look at ridding your debts where possible.

Treating yourself, doesn't mean you need to spend money!

You could enjoy a day out somewhere, doing something special to you.

Very sensible, and it's not boring, now you have a little extra every month for treats if you want them

Its totally sensible and not boring in the present climate, but more importantly you can treat yourself in other ways. Spending money and the buzz you get only lasts a few seconds or minutes and whatever feelings you had before will still be there! (There is one exception to this : Shoes!) xx
