Hearing Aid

I wear a digital NHS hearing aid which is fine for hearing conversation in a quite room but since it amplifies everything its different story in say a crowded pub.

So do the more expensive aids that claim to home in on conversation and minimise other sound actually work and worth the money ??

My mum has been losing her hearing for a cpl of years now, she now wears a hearing aid, and loves it (the hearing aid, not the being deaf).

She just turns it to off when she doesnt want to listen to us.

But I have no idea what kind she uses, so not much help on this thread.

friend has a setting on their NHS digital one that lets them block out the background noise so they can just hear the person they talking to.
