My maiden name was Milligan - I believed my Dad till I was about 14 that Spike was our miserable uncle who never visited or send pressies at Xmas or birthdays

Some of Robert Rankins earlier books, I can't remember which ones but they had my properly laughing out loud, to the point of having tears in my eyes.

His later ones aren't so funny and are boardline obscure.

Roddy Doyle's Barrytown trilogy-The Commitments, The Snapper & The Van.

I had to read these when alone as my laughing out loud made people stare at me!

Met him once on the tube in London, was reading Pyramids at the time, heard a voice say would you like me to sign that for you? looked up. he was sat opposite me,

that book now has the inscription, 'To Leigh, The Eye (all seeing eye drawing) in the middle of the pyramid. yours, Pterry'

its a great shame about Terrys illness, and that theer will not be many more books in teh series
