How "metric" are you.

It's often said that people under a certain age have only been taught and think in "metric" units.

But how true is it? Have a rough guess as to how much of evryday stuff you think, and speak, in metric and/or imperial?

As a starter, i'll estimate 4/5ths imperial, 20% metric.

Percentages have been used for years, in pie graphs

But I do think in inches, feet etc

and love my temperatures over 70 degrees

The other thought is How easily can you convert from one to the other?

eg most jet airliners cruise at say 35-37,000 feet.

Can you readily convert this to miles, metres or kilometres.

Does it matter as long as it lands safely and you get yer bags within the hour?

All imperial at work, at home a mixture of both... Driving all imperial of course, except for fuel being in litres! Strange how a car's ecomony is still expressed in Miles per gallon, yet we were forced to accept metric fuel measures!

I've just been trying to convert litres in to gallons, think I got it right in the end 4.54609 litres = 1 imperial gallon (not forgetting a U S Gallon is different) Have to say my brain hurts now though

Imperial here in the main - but I can convert on the fly. And I can still convert back into proper money...

My sixth-of-a-yard ... sounds much more impressive than the metric equivalent...

I am a bit messed up and confused. I know cms and inches, feet, metres not yards, stones and lbs not kilos, litres not gallons, miles not kilometres. I must have been learning during the changeover.

"going into a pub and asking for "568ml of bitter" is just going to wrong.... soooo wrong!!! "

It is actually. It's one of the statutory exceptions. Beer and cider must be sold in pints. Wussy halves are permissible.

As I convert everything that's metric into Imperial, I would say 95% Imperial and 5% metric
