So had to start a new thread, just quickly where I left off, 5 weeks of radiotherapy done.

Neuralgia is much better, but my throat is really sore, very difficult to actually swallow!!

Can’t eat normal foods, will be mainly feeding myself now via a pipe into my stomach (peg)

No sense of taste at all, no saliva...

Radiotherapy knocks me to pieces am continually falling asleep, lost about 10kgs!

So this last week hasn’t been to bad, felt a bit better, but today I’m feeling pretty rough, very much down emotionally, the throat is the worse me it’s been, even breathing tickles and aggravates my throat, yet can’t cough.. if I do it will bleed a lot...

But on a positive note only 1 week more of intense radiotherapy

I say bring it on

Mam used to sip boiled water [once it cooled a bit - after she had surgery for her duodenal ulcer - that should be safe enough.

Thanks for the comforting messages, today I’m feeling particularly ill, nauseous and sore, but only 3 sessions to go, my throat is really sore I struggle swallowing, when I do stuff always gets stuck in my windpipe so I’m constantly heaving. It’s not pleasant, but as I said 3 more to go then I can start the road to recovery

Can you ask the nurses for any tips....mouth sprays, sucking boiled sweets, kind of thing. My nursing knowledge is a bit rusty. But you are nearly there... listen to your body , rest up and keep chatting to the lovely folk in fab land xxxx

My dad had mouth cancer but very similar. That found it under his tooth but luckily not spread to his law. He was cut from eat to ear and all his lynfnodes were removed from both sides. He was fed from a tube in his neck for a while. But thankfully he's in remission. He said he's lost a lot of taste and has been put off a lot of different foods he used to love. I wish you all the best on your road to recovery. Possotibe thoughts

It’s nice to hear so many lovely responses to my blog, on the last leg of radiotherapy 2 sessions left, if I could I would stop now as I’m tired and feeling really sorry for myself.

The thing is no matter what, you have to fight and stay positive, last night I didn’t sleep couldn’t due to my throat closing up and tickling, if I cough I cough up blood so that’s not an option, swallowing is really hard and hurts like hell.

I cannot swallow pills anymore, they get stuck in my throat and almost ch0£e me, food and water can get into my wing pipe as my throat to sore to be able to prevent what you all do naturally..

But from day 1 when I was diagnosed I knew it was going to be tough battle, I’m very positive in my attitude and outlook, I think that’s critical to beat the cancer.

Rob in Bristol has just started his radiotherapy and noted he made a blog yesterday, it’s very hard and you have to fight on..

I will keep you all updated, the next 2 weeks will be the worst, once radiotherapy stops, my body will be exhausted but has to use all its energy to start repairing the damage.

Throughout all of this I can’t thank the staff at the hospital and McMillan trust for everything.

They are magnificent

Hi rob it’s fine he text me and explained, he has had family going through the same, one thing you will understand as your treatment goes, we all have to be tolerant of others,the world cancer scares the hell out of a lot of people, friends I’ve had for years just can’t talk to me now, sad I know...

Take it easy, my mum has just been through similar treatment in the same area. Just listen to y I ur body and go with the flow. You will kick it arse.

Day 1 of recovery after therapy

Well I am feeling crap my throat is red raw, woke up a few tones in the night when throat made me cough and splutter, well they did tell me I’m going to feel worse for a couple of weeks before I start getting better

One worrying thing

Have you tried Manuka honey maybe on a spoon allow to melt slowly and trickle around throat area or maybe That special oil that I can’t mention not sure if that has healing properties.

I was sent some from Amsterdam recently for a skin problem. Just trying it out now .

Dunno wasnt risking the norty step thats all..

full spectrum organic hemp extract with mct oil 6% he got me weak to start you get different % is all I know..

Was just trying to suggest ideas without trawling through numerous threads.

Male here. I've had surgery being a partial glossectomy and radical radiotherapy. The xrt was the worst and recovery from the burns and ulcers took a further 4 to 6 weeks. I lost a lot of weight couldn't hack even the fortisip s but water ok. Things tasted weird for a while and fatigue lasted 4 years roughly. This was all 8 years ago now.

Yeh my fatigue isn’t just related to the cancer, 2 weeks prior to be diagnosed with cancer,

I was confirmed suffering spinal stenosis

A painful condition that literally makes me exhausted

I can have surgery and will probably have to have this, I cannot walk 100yds without being in severe pain

So I’m fighting the cancer first

Safe to say 2018 hasn’t been a good year lol

(Seriously NO!! None of that old business for a while. Well until you've healed) try ice that's been crushed and drink it through a straw. Xx if you're taking Morphine a lot, make sure you don't get constipated. Talk to your nurse specialist - they know a few tricks xx

Day 13 recovery

Nothing seems to be improving I am ch0king regularly every couple of hours, I can’t sleep, I have back ache, and constipated..

I am still getting people being arses with me pestering me why I won’t meet!!

I’ve put everything on my profile and yet it seems it’s not enough, even had someone say don’t worry I can force my cock in your mouth and besides you may not have much time left???

So clarification is in order.

I am a couple of weeks now after finishing therapy, I still can’t eat properly, my mouth only opens slightly it’s too painful to stretch it any further I’m told it will get easier, it’s hard to swallow, I don’t sleep as I ch0ke in the night, I rasp not breathe, my headaches are back

I have a pvc pipe sticking out of my stomach I case I need to ingest food, it’s not s pretty site.. I have lost 2 1/2 stones nearly in weight, muscle mass loss is also an issue, I’m quite week still, but each day I feel an improvement

But hey I got diagnosed with spinal stenosis 2 weeks prior to being diagnosed with cancer, so after I fight the cancer I’m going to have spinal surgery too!!

So when am I going to start meeting again?

I have no idea is the truth, but I try to stay positive and hope I can leads normal life again..
