Kleenex Man Up !

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

Feminism has now ‘jumped the shark’.

Kleenex are now changing there name of their mansize tissues because some feminist woman has complained about it being sexist.

This women said her kid asked what the word mansize meant (yeah right) and then asked if the tissues could be used by boys, girls and ladies too. It just breaks your heart doesn’t it !

So know Kleenex are changing the name to Extra Large (I’m sure that must be offensive to obese people). This sort of shit, would make the suffragettes so proud.

So do you think Kleenex were right to change the name, or should they just have told this whingeing woman to Man Up ?

Didn't Yorkie have to change their branding over advertising as 'man size' or something?

Sounds like a cunning bit of PR by Kleenex's marketing people.

Create a controversial reason to rebrand.

Everyone starts talking about their brand.

The brand is everywhere in social media and mainstream media.

Result (acres of free publicity.)

Once the chatter dies out, declare you have listened to customers and changed your mind.

Acres and acres of brand exposure repeated.

Sales increase.

Bonus for the marketing department.

Stoning to death is still a used legal punishment for women accused of adultery in Iran and Pakistan. But this is what bothers women here, oh what a hard life

On the flip side I just don't understand what tissues are used for so can't say there'll be any consumer backlash from people who think like me. I guess their target market is pussies who need reassurance about their masculinity anyway.

This women said her kid asked what the word mansize meant (yeah right) and then asked if the tissues could be used by boys, girls and ladies too. It just breaks your heart doesn’t it !

It’s a load of old pretentious nothing. Stone me some people need to get a life

So know Kleenex are changing the name to Extra Large (I’m sure that must be offensive to obese people). This sort of shit, would make the suffragettes so proud.

So do you think Kleenex were right to change the name, or should they just have told this whingeing woman to Man Up ?"

"Didn't Yorkie have to change their branding over advertising as 'man size' or something?

I think it's a bit OTT but far from upset over it."

But aren't most chocolate adverts all about the woman eating chocolate. If the woman from Milk Tray wants to drop by just like Lara Croft and give me her box...then I won't be offended. So long as they weren't dark.

By the way, Kleenex are only going to change the wording on the product for their UK market.

Their other world wide markets will remain unaltered.

What about the ‘outraged’ feminists who are offended by the word ‘man’, they don’t even know what they’re angry at anymore. I think it’s the hypocrisy of the fact, women are being persecuted in other places in the word, that they have no interest in, but fuck me we can’t have ‘mansize’ on a box of tissues. Save your right on liberal stance for something more deserving.

I guarantee a white able bodied person thought of that though. Whenever you hear this shit, it's never because an disabled people were actually offended by it. Just because some other smug cunt felt they should be. Its because there are no disabled people, just people with disabilities. I know it seems like a small thing but imagine goibg through life defined but one aspect of your physical or intellectual make up.

As insignifficant as it might seem to us its part of a larger change of phrasing amd attitude to helo give people a little more dignity so its worth changing one word in our day to day IMO

I have friends that are wheelchair bound who think what you said is total crap and patronising. They realise that those words exist for historic reasons and are not part of any conspiracy to make them feel shit. They generally want to live as much of a normal life as possible without people treading on egg shells around them. That's what it means to see the person and not the disability. Because being in a wheelchair is a disability and my friends aren't delusional.

You've missed the entire point. Not all toilets are accessible to people with some disabilities. That is why they are designed with larger doors, more space inside, hand rails etc.

However, words and labels change their meaning over time. The word spastic started out as a neutral, medical label yet became used as a term of abuse, so it was dropped from its original use.

I now hear teenagers calling each other "special" as an insult. Give it another few years and Special Educational Needs will need a new name. Not a problem, just a reality of how languages evolve

I thought it was a reference to men wanking into tissues.

'Mansize' is easier to market than 'cocksize'. Especially if they're small tissues.

Men should complain that they're offended by the magazine "Woman's Own". After all, it's clearly named to exclude men isn't it? But then the very same people who've complained about Kleenex will no doubt say it's a silly and prejudiced argument.

"I think they should start making sanitary towels for men."

Agreed. Just because I can't menstruate doesn't remove my right to menstruate. Remember Stan/Loretta from the Peoples Front of Judea? Or was is the Judean Peoples Front

"I've just seen a news report about this., apparently in the US man hole covers now have to be called maintenancec covers.

"

I've worked in the drainage industry. Never seen a woman go down one yet.

Been through a phase of calling them personel inspection chambers.

Of greater amusement is why 'men at work' signs are called paddys

Does anyone remember yorkee adverts? More recently the buscuit and raisin were clearly for men only.

Personel inspection chambers sound awful.

"By the way, Kleenex are only going to change the wording on the product for their UK market.

Their other world wide markets will remain unaltered.

The "outraged" moaners better stock up before going on holiday or they'll be mighty offended! Poor Lambs!

So you think it’s alright for this country to pander to the minority

I'm not sure where he said that at all."

Nope he didn’t I think that was a bit of sarcasm there

"not allowed man of the match anymore neither....world is totally f..ked up"

I hardly think not having man of the match makes the world to rally fucked up.... It's just a little trophy at the end of a game.

Yeah I get that, but it's not a sign that the world is totally fucked up... Just the band of an award.

If a game is played by all men then man of the match applies.

In cricket, they’ve changed man of the match to player of the match, for Men’s cricket. So it’s already happened.

Maybe they didn't think some of the players were worthy of the title 'man'

Man flu is scientifically proven.

"I was told at work this week we can no longer say Disabled Toilet....we have to say Accessible Toilet. I was told I was being obtuse when I pointed out ALL toilets are accessible surely? We also had nearly a week on Equality. Every group was covered except straight white males. Go figure.

I had a weird showerthought a little while back.

Isn't it weird how we literally call disabled people invalid, but because we pronounce it slightly differently, everyone seems to be cool with that?
