I went about 4 seasons without missing a home game just before Sam Hamman turned up. Used to watch us play Exeter and Halifax etc.

Now we are in the big time I haven't got the same buzz. Plus I loved our old stadium.

Fottballs changed. Mostly for the good.

Not all Celtic or Rangers fans are bigots. When you've lived in Glasgow your whole life and have family and friends on both sides you get used to other people being that narrow minded about the old firm!

I have absolutely no doubt that this is the case but to put others misgivings down to narrow mindedness is a little wide of the mark. There are problems relating to sectarianism on a regular basis.

It staggers me that they can put their differences behind them when they follow Scotland but not in their own backyard.

Funny old world.

The bigot brothers? I think it's rather apt. Nobody down here talks about the Celtic and Rangers rivalry without mentioning the sectarian divide. Factions of both clubs' support has foisted that upon you by keeping it going, we haven't made it up.

I used to work at the Baseball Ground and went to all Derby's away games, even when we went down to the old Division 3 in the early 80's, sometimes our away support would outnumber the home side's fans

I still go to Pride Park on occasion, but I'm afraid away matches are just too expensive for me on a regular basis these days

Glasgow's a great city and I find the people very friendly. Even when I've been up on lads' trips, local lads have come over asking where we're from and we've chatted footy and stuff. You don't normally get that.

It's just got that minority of bigots that just won't let the past go. You don't see decent everyday people holding as many banners up saying how decent and friendly they are, if you did the bigots' banners would disappear under a sea of common sense.

They're a funny lot, the Geordies and Mackams, never could quite work them out.

I've seen that before though, Newcastle fans turning up at a Sunderland game, only this time they both turned on us.

Trying to do a runner across a revolving dance floor, 3 parts cut is an experience I'll never forget.

Just asking

It was a fitting tribute to Sir Doug. It was good to see so many former players in attendance and in particular Sir Brian who was my first Villa hero.

All matchers are too expensive i think as a Leeds utd fan as over the years some of our home games were dearer that some home games in the premiership, Witch i never understood as we were 3 leagues lower.

So old 3rd division if we go back to the 80's !

There’s an agreement in the Prem that away tickets should be capped at £30.

We play QPR tonight. I think we should have changed things in the summer but there you are. Smithy will shake it up and we should at least play better football. Playoffs are possible if we tighten our defence but so many championship teams are so similar.

That sounds about fair, bearing in mind that many fans have a hell of a lot of travelling to do, and should be even cheaper for a mid week televised game.

As I said earlier in the thread, Derby used to take more away fans than the home team had on occasion, but that was when football belonged to the people and not Corporate Businesses.

Doncaster Rovers season ticket holder here. Supported the club for 60 years now - I know I know and still haven't seen sense! First game I ever saw was a Rovers home game against Leeds and we lost 1-0, I've hated Leeds ever since!! lol

Folks say to me why support the Rovers, my reply is it's my home town and I've supported them through thick and thin so why go support some other team. I moved away from Doncaster when I joined the RAF and lived away down South from Doncaster when I left the RAF but have always supported my team, getting to home and away matches when I could.

What I can't understand is why someone will say they support say Man Utd or Chelsea or Celtic for instance and when I ask which games have they been to they say they haven't been to any but watch them on TV!!! What kind of supporter is that? True supporters turn up at the ground, pay money to see their team win, lose or draw. Have a moan and groan or shout their support while at the ground.

Where I used to live down South there were plenty of local non-league teams that I went to watch and got just as much pleasure from that as sat at home watching unaffordable Premiership or European league football.
