"There will be a shiny new plastic £50 note in 2020. Doesn't 2020 sound futuristic, to be fair it in the future. Anyway, who would you like to see adorn the new next fifty quid note? Who is your 2020 vision? I know who'd I'd like to see." I read it was the new £20 note in 2020. Anyway Stephen Hawking is a good shout.

I didn’t have any money in 1981 , but she encouraged me and tens of thousands like me to buy our council houses , and do them up with massive discounts and incentives . Which I did , and by 1985 I had bought and sold my first home . Made good money on that deal , and got my first business . Lived above it for a few years , did well and now , despite two bloody expensive divorces ,I’m happily married for a third time , and retired in a beautiful home in the country . "Margaret Thatcher That would be appropriate, as no poor people will ever see one. True , but she also rescued our economy when it was dead on its arse in 1979 " Not really...she herself was rescued by the discovery of North Sea gas, an opportunity that was squandered by flogging it off to save a political career rather than doing something sensible and sustainable with it, like creating a sovereign wealth fund as Norway did. To give her her dues, she smashed the unions, but this rose-tinted view that she saved the economy ignores the fact that she got lucky...and put in the context of the massive impact and implications of creating an economy so heavily reliant upon the finance sector as well as shifting economic policy towards monetarist principles (which as we all know, blew up in our face massively - perhaps not under her watch, but she sowed the seeds) the notion that she saved the economy is at best simplistic

"Why do they have to put a politician/scientist/soldier etc on? Why can't they have someone like John Lennon,David Bowie,Freddie mercury on it? Or even Barry Chuckle Why does the person have to be dead? Sir David Attenborough is still alive put him on it." Things just won't be the same when Attenborough goes I mean, they can make a glossy full length Hollywood feature film and get Morgan bloody Freeman to narrate it, and it's *still* not as good as Attenborough... This is why he needs to be the first fully digitally cloned human being! We have the technology, we have enough video and audio footage...surely there's a way we could just bash the script into some computer programme and poof! There he is, still on the telly, talking to us about the animals

So many people are having to rely on food banks etc it's a disgrace this country is a shambles" What baffles me is the seemingly accepted notion that they are fiscally responsible...it's bizarre. On top of flogging off assets at knockdown prices to make the books balance in the short term, they pull shit like issuing 10 billion pounds of pensioner bonds at an interest rate of 4%... So basically paying old people so that the government can borrow money off them at way over the market rate and costing the taxpayer fucking millions as a result. A shameless bribe and nothing more. The Tories are like one of those people that have climbed the greasy management pole by doing things that make them look good rather than doing what actually needs to be done

Those houses are now being rented out at triple the rent would be if the council still owned them, to people who have to claim housing benefit to be able to have a roof over their heads. You didn't work hard for the profit in your house, it was handed to you on a plate. It was how a family member of mine could buy a house for £24,000, sell it 3 years later for £144,000 and buy a house outright in France. That house is now one of the hundreds of thousands of now making a profit for landlords instead of housing people who can't afford to buy.

I think that was one of the words decisions our Government made. She saw it as a way of everyone being able to own a home-which she thought was an important thing at the time. "Or would you just prefer to blame me for selling mine and making a few quid on it ? " Nobody can blame you for making a profit, you would be a fool not to. But the appearance of prosperity under the Thatcher years was financed by stripping the countries assets, and putting people into personal debt so they couldnt afford to protest. A lot of the current issues from housing shortage, lack of skilled employees, economy crashes etc. can be directly tied back to that period of apparent prosperity.

I don't think getting a massive discount on purchasing a house just because you paid rent on it is at all fair. My landlord isn't going to give me a massive discount on the sale price of my house just because I'm paying them rent! " The right to buy policy was a good way to encourage people to work hard to become homeowners. Which they otherwise could never have done. The way in which the policy failed was that all the profit made from that scheme was not ploughed back into tthe coffers to build new housing stock for the next generation of people to benefit from and do the same thing again. If they'd continued that, you wouldn't have the current situation where young people will never be able to afford their own home. It's not the fault of the people who got a discount, bought their own property, got out of the welfare housing trap and bettered themselves. The councils should have reinvested the money to build more homes.

Or we could petition to put Kiser Wihime of Germany on there. Or Stalin, if you wanted to upset Tories, and those likely to see the note, lol.

" The councils should have reinvested the money to build more homes. " Only problem with that is under government regulations on budget allocation, Councils were not permitted to release monies gained from sale of housing stock to invest in new builds.

"Margaret Thatcher That would be appropriate, as no poor people will ever see one. True , but she also rescued our economy when it was dead on its arse in 1979 Only for people with money. The rest saw their jobs vanish, and had the poll tax inflicted on them. Like her or loathe her , she rewarded hard work like no other . Well done you. You made lots of money from buying your council house so now there are none left for future generations!! Would you say the same to the tens of thousands of pensioners who got their homes for next to nothing after paying rent all their lives ? And do you not think the fact that the population in the UK is now over ten million higher than it was in 1979 may have something to do with the fact that there are not enough houses now ? Or would you just prefer to blame me for selling mine and making a few quid on it ? They were a way of making a quick buck for some people, and they weren't replaced. I think that was one of the words decisions our Government made. She saw it as a way of everyone being able to own a home-which she thought was an important thing at the time. What it did was take hundreds of thousands of council properties away from poor people and gave them to people as a way of earning money. I don't blame you for taking up that opportunity, I considered it myself before I became single, but it wasn't a good move by her, in my opinion. The right to buy policy was a good way to encourage people to work hard to become homeowners. " Spot on

"Margaret Thatcher That would be appropriate, as no poor people will ever see one. True , but she also rescued our economy when it was dead on its arse in 1979 " Of course she didn't. It's too long a subject for here but she fecked British manufacturing industry and the working man - turning the country into one run by Spivs in the city. She then used British lives in a risky throw of the dice in the Falklands war to save her own political skin.

Mary Jane Seacole OM (née Grant 1805 – 14 May 1881. She was a British-Jamaican business woman and nurse who set up the "British Hotel" , not hospital, behind the lines during the Crimean War. She described this as "a mess-table and comfortable quarters for sick and convalescent officers", and provided succour for wounded servicemen on the battlefield. She was posthumously awarded the Jamaican Order of Merit in 1991. In 2004 she was voted the greatest black Briton.[6] As for my choices: Isambard KIngdom Brunel Sir Joseph William Bazalgette, CB was a 19th-century English civil engineer. "Will anybody accept it, or will it get refused like all the previous 50 pound notes and non English Sterling notes?" What I find bizarre is 30 years ago it had mythical status yet 20 s were norm Due to inflation seriously the 50 is only worth what the 50 was then (think of a night out? ) Yet mythdom for the fifty still exists In Euro land 50s are common and not so mythical and we are near parity with their currency Many in the UK have no perspective I think hawking or Turing or both x

Are they criminals too!? I know as much about you as you do about me, precisely nothing but you were quick to make a judgement about me! As I said there are plenty of stories about people getting ripped off by bank transfers, they ate not 100% safe!xx And indeed my response was to the idea cash being king If you had not been personal, but replied Ah ok cash is not king but many older people feel more comfortable using it and they are not all criminals My response would have been one of agreement ! It is very .important that cash remains a payment method for the foreseeable future and certainly has it's time place and merits You said it was king I know it isn't And many people including older ones think you may make a reduction in price if they offer cash as you may evade tax That makes them complicit in crime xxx More judgements, keep saving your pocket money and you maybe able to have a £50 note one day! Definitely jealous!xx Where was the judgment , I gave you an opportunity not to dig further Please show me my judgment ? Was it many people think as I can give evidence lol 3 people today on goods over 500 But please explain your nonsense I have time to tolerate you for the moment xxx Fortunately I haven't got time for a pompous prig so you will have to tolerate your own company unfortunately for you!xx How do you live with yourself hehe Cash is definitely king, unless you haven't got any! Lol Ok let's say there are many who don't have any Are you suggesting they are less important as members of our society ? As I'm destitute does that make you a better person than i ?" "Cash is king" it's just a saying, perhaps you have never had a big wad of cash in your pocket so you don't know how good it makes you feel, just like a king! Just keep hoping and one day you might know!Lol.

"There will be a shiny new plastic £50 note in 2020. Doesn't 2020 sound futuristic, to be fair it in the future. Anyway, who would you like to see adorn the new next fifty quid note? Who is your 2020 vision? I know who'd I'd like to see. Without checking I assume you're quite young, it's all too bloody close for my liking. I can still remember in junior school wondering about the year 2000 and thinking it'll never come around! " Erm, yes, I'm young.
