Im from down south lol. Well south east . I'd say beef hash. Just googled it to check as I've never cooked that meal before and I was correct. Well according to Google images.

Beef stew doesn't normally have diced potatoes in it. Usually cut in half boiled potatoes.

Actually now I think about it I’d say beef casserole not stew.

"Wouldn't have a gravy if it was a hash though would you"

You could have a slight amount or an oxo cube crumbled in, otherwise the meat would be dry. Dry lumps of beef with diced potatoes on top...sounds pretty unappetising.

OP, I made a slow cooked Morrocon casserole tonight. First time cooking with apricots in a savoury dish. Was yummy. Definitely recommend it.

"What does the OP call it?"

I'm with you on the yummy

Well ...

Mum (who cooked tonights) calls it tayto hash

I would say beef stew

A colleague brought some in work for lunch a few weeks ago and she called it hot pot

I always thought hot pot had sliced spuds on top

I thought tayto hash was made with corned beef not diced beef

As someone said above, beef stew is more robust (big chunks etc)

So I'm kinda befuddled by this culinary dilemma

Sounds like beef stew...Tater hash is mince meat, carrot, onion, potato, and gravy made to a thick soupy like type consistency..definitely should not dry or with a fried egg on top?! The same goes corned beef hash

Taytos are Irish crisps , they are cracking, but imitation ones over here made in Northern Ireland in yellow packets are not nearly as tasty
