"I was supposed to be out tonight but I’m not feeling 100%, so I’ve made my excuses and updated my friend that I can’t come. There’ll be others there so it doesn’t mean a cancellation of their entire evening, but I feel flakey and guilty for letting them down. Why does bailing on someone feel so sucky? " Because we don't like to think we are letting people down combined with caring/ emotional/hormonal things.. I hope you feel better soon.

I hate that feeling of having to look after me at the cost of someone else not being happy.

"On a school night? How?!" Worse. I have had today and have tomorrow off. Mostly so I had energy to go to this party. But the “stop” of having time off has meant the strike of the unwells got me.

"Stop beating yourself up. Your friend is still going out. And a true friend will understand. If there are other people there, they probably won't be that bothered to be honest. Unless you're a serial canceller..that can be annoying." Yep, you’re absolutely right!

"I'm feeling the need to bail on my LTP tonight. I'm tired and aching, about an hour behind, he lives an hour and a half minimum away from me and I don't drive. I don't feel bad for him as he might not get back from work in time any way, but I want the sex." Can he come to you?

"Put yourself first." I did. Being run down is a yawn fest though. It’s annoying because if I’d stayed working this week, the adrenaline would have probably carried me through and I’d be out partying. I got old, my duvet, an orange ice lolly and the forum is where it’s at.

"You shouldn't feel guilty OP for bailing out especially if you're not feeling 100 percent and I'm sure your friend will understand and you can make it to them next time you see them." You’re right. And they’ve been lovely (which makes me feel worse, damn my lovely friends!)
