If it seems dead and doesn't even want to power up then try taking the battery out. Wait a minute before replacing it and see if that helps.

Did you create recovery disks when you first got it? Not sure, but may be what it's asking you to do? Good luck

Did you make a recovery CD when you first got the laptop ? Or it could have a recovery petition on your hard drive.

Not sure but it sounds like files have been corrupted in some way and could be why you are getting that message, so a start from scratch should solve it.

Do you still have the manual?

If not download one from the internet and it should tell you how to get to your recovery petition.

have you teried booting it in safe mode ?

Repeatedly press F8 as soon as you fire it up, see what happens from there. It only loads a basic version of windows with minimal drivers etc.

Failing that you may have a boot sector virus or corrupt startup files. ..

Safe mode isn't the bios, she will be ok in there

Oh Oh Ive heard of bios......Rob mentioned it yesterday,I nearly fell on the floor with shock

Anyway some lovely people on here have offered to have a look at it for me on sunday
