loads

Go to a reputable dive school (can give recommendations)

don't be forced in to doing anything you aren't comfortable with (just like swinging lol)

never lose contact with your dive buddy

check all your kit yourself even if the dive boat says they have done everything for you

best you come to me for a thory lesson before you go

Make sure they are PADI qualified dive schools. I stayed in the Hilton Fayrouz and dived with their own ocean College. Very professional and a good price compared to other schools at that time.

One point of caution...

Make sure you are as fit as you can be... The surface swimming in february can be choppy....

Or make sure you know exactly where the diveboat will be when you surface.

I would also suggest an orientation dive off a local diveschool reef, one to one with the divemaster...

That way you will get used to your kit, weights and buoyancy, visibility and thickness of wetsuit...

The water in February may be cooler than you think for a 30/40 minute dive...

If you dive with a PADI team (Cameldive eg.)

and you have free time... consider a course package (say Advanced Open Water) which could save

Costs...

That asside... Have a wonderful time...xx

deep fill the bath with warm water, fill with goldfish and a ceramic castle from pets at home (if ur feeling flush some plastic reeds too)

dim the lighting in the bathroom, put ur goggles and armbands on and in ya get

no chance of being attacked by sharks, no 6 hour flight and no chance of being caught up in another revolution either

sorted

Sheffield

not sure where exactly you are but if you want to do a try dive before you go (gives you an idea of what to expect physically as well as find out if you're comfortable underwater) then i know of a very good dive school in sheffield with a great female instructor. Pm if you want details. (not being sexist, but women often prefer a female instructor. The whole mars/venus thing)

Who knows

Would definately recommend a try dive before you go, that way you will have a rough idea of how your gonna feel with a reg in your mouth and breathing underwater, concentrate on being relaxed, check out the dive school on line, (personal choice here but see if there any BSAC schools out there)

"Dont sit on the toilets...;-)

Underwater?"

Yep!

Divers are advised not to sit on the toilets that comprise the debris field that remains of the wreck of the Yolanda on Ras Mohammed reef ..... apparently they are a favourite hiding place for scorpionfish

some are covered as Peridot says in fire coral and on one particular dive there 7 or 8 years ago there were moray eels with their heads out of a couple of them. Unfortunately some divers have now moved them and they are lined up on the seabed rather than as they were as shipwrecked cargo. Do make for a laugh and good pics with newbies though
