Seinfeld is so overrated

Jump to newest

This ‘sitcom’ is constantly hailed as a comedy master class, so I think I must be missing something. So I go back to it again every few years, but every time I just think it’s a bunch of whiny New Yorkers, who are actually deeply unpleasant.

There’s no heart, it’s just a vehicle for Jerry Seinfeld gags. It’s stretched thinner than chewing gum. It seems to me, to be a programme that people pretend they love, something to talk about at dinner parties, to try and impress people.

Does anyone actually genuinely like this programme, or were you just faking it, like everybody else ? Or are they’re other programmes you don’t get, that you think are overrated ?

There's a lot of American humour I don't find funny. I don't think they always convey dry wit across.

Don't get Sienfield, also can't stand Everybody loves Raymond. But the two shows you mentioned are favourites of mine.

So obviously your opinion is wrong and you should leave the site

I didn’t call anyone a prick though did I. I thought if you liked Seinfeld you’d have a better retort than that. I’ll get back to watching Mrs Browns Boys, haha Classic she said ‘Feck!’ again, brilliant !

So overatted, not funny, not entertaining ... like having your time wasted on here.

Not watched enough of it to be honest which I suppose speaks volumes.

Loved Parks and Rec.

Swanson is the man. Can’t believe what he looks like now.

Seinfeld is very American and I find a lot of the humour doesn't translate very well. Frasier the same, but they tried to "British" it up a bit - again, something the Americans love.

Love top gear and the grand tour. But I agree about Hammond. He's too eccentric for my liking.

James May is fucking awesome though

Seinfeld I can live without. Fraiser was brilliant.

Parks and Recs I love, but I can worrying relate to a lot of the characters.

The American cartoons are brilliant. Bobs burgers, archer, BoJack horseman, venture brothers, and the one I can't remember the name of and if I keep typing it might come to me, dam.....it's got john Witherspoon as the patriarch.....anyway....that one.

There's very little American humour that I find funny. I always thought Friends was utter crap even though everyone else seemed to love it. Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother were amusing but thats about it.

My ex watched it therefore I did. I could never decide if I liked it or hated it. It kinda makes me groan with how annoying he is but then I kinda like that.

Like Tim Vine. I hate him and he makes me hate myself that I can't help but laugh at him.

Totally agree. I could sit through 5 hours of it and I wouldn't laugh once. It's sort of like a kid with a Christmas cracker joke and you can see they are trying to be funny... But it just isn't.

I think that was very much of its time and is just part of the style. I'm not quite sure how it's tacky?
