What was your favourite music genre back in the day of going out? Hardcore, jungle, garage, house, techno, d'n'b or cheesy shit?

Somewhere In The Ether…

I always get confused as to the specific differences between dance, trance, jungle etc.

Is it based upon the BPM?

all completely different sounds. Jungle and hardcore were around a similar time. Jungle really came into its own around 93

I like some of the more ambient stuff. The master of that is LTJ Bukem. If you get a chance have a listen to the progression sessions compilations, they are a few years old now but they're superb!

I'm talking about late 80's to the mid 90's for us old fuckers. I don't get involved with the new stuff.

The rave scene for me was, Judgement day - Afterdark - Colosseum - New Monkey - Hangar 13 - Helter Skelter - Slammin Vinyl - Velocity, which is a ongoing rave that I've been too a few times these last few months in South Shields lol.

It peaked late 90's.

House/Dance music was my favourite. Ibiza music, if you like.

I also went through happy hardcore/rave and jungle/drum and bass.

I got a folder on my pc with classics such as:

As cold as ice

Alice, who the fuzz is Alice

Now is the time

Toy town

I listen to it now and I'm like 'turn that off, my ears are bleeding'.

I could listen to Ibiza classics all day long though.

Another illegal raver here I started on hardcore (old skool) though. So still got a soft spot for that stuff. Can't resist some fucked up breaks mixed in with my tekno. Spiraltek is some of the best imo

I went through a brief "Bonkers" happy hardcore phase when I was around 17/18, but I really got into the hard house, hard dance and trance scene in the early 2000's. The Tidy Trax/Gatecrasher/Godskitchen era was a great time to be alive and young

Was a youngling but caught rave at the end of '92. There's really been no scene like it since the Criminal Justice Act came in.

Love mid 90s house before it went super commercial and trance took over

Love for underground disco, Chicago house, a spot of Detroit techno too and mid 00s French electro too
