Very busy at work the week or so before Christmas, then a nice break to recharge the batteries.

Cook and eat food I do not normally eat throughout the year.

If the weather is nice, I would go camping.

Thats the one thing I miss about xmas, There is no wee ones in the family now, (and hopefully not for a while yet) Im to young to be a nanny

does not mean anything to me, im not religious so i have no interest in christmas at all

if i didnt have kids it would just pass me by lol

i wouldnt see my children without gifts tho when all the other kids are going back to school telling each other what they have, but i just think christmas now days is over commercialised rubbish celibrated by hypocrites, lots of kids now days dont even know what they are celibrating and just see it as a time to get pressies

I'm not religious, but it seems like as good a day as any to have a day when people try to be extra nice to each other lol!

The time off work is the best bit, and people have parties. I just like that stuff is going on

It's tough enough having to deal with all the misery around for 11 months of the year, so December is a magical time in our house. I have both my kids under my roof this year (and the third threatening to turn up early for the party!). There are stockings for all three of them hanging over the fire (just in case the little one does make an appearance), the trees & decs are up, the presents are wrapped and safely hidden away, and this week is all about doing things as a family that doesn't involve slogging through the shops looking for last minute pressies. Got the main Xmas food shopping to do but even that is a tradition with us and we get just the things we'll need for Xmas & Boxing Day. No trip to Beamish this Xmas Eve though as Siren will be 38 weeks by then (if she manages to keep it in her tum that long lol).

I think it's fair to say that I love Christmas - I can deal with anything the rest of the year if I have this magical time with my family.

As I am an only child & have none of my own, then I suppose it means little to me. My missus has 3 grown up lads & 1 grandson but I love to see his face when he opens his pressies.

Other than that, the usual bottle of JD, Cigar & new slippers.

christmas is defo family time this year for me with be very difficult as im sure it is for many people

It means family time and being together for me, and remembering those close family members that are no longer with me.

I always think about christmases past when my parents were alive and how happy a day my parents made it. I like that I am creating similar memories for my own children

Magic and excitement, days of innocence. Love of family. In past Christmases and those to come.

One of my Christmas memories was of being so excited, that as soon as my father arrived home from work in the morning (fireman coming in off nightshift) he picked me up for a Christmas hug and I was so giddy with excitement I puked right over his shoulder and down his back.

He calmly wiped me down and handed me a gift to open. Priceless family memories.

To me it means time spent with loved ones,to enjoy,laugh and reflect on the year that as past us,to raise a glass to the ones that are no longer with us but most importantly to look into my daughters eyes and see those gawjus eyes light up as shes unwrapping that little special gift i always get her,kinda a tradition now.as years have past and shes older still see the magic of christmas.And to wonder what the year ahead is gonna bring,so would just like to say a huge forum merry christmas to you all and have a great christmas...even u bah humbugs....lol

Christmas to me sparks off some emotions sad and happy ones.. This year is a difficult one. It also is the beginning of the end of this year. I am looking forward to 2012 and hope that is has something special in store for me who knows.. x

A world of my own

As I don't have much in the way family now its quite a lonely time. The person I would most like to spend Xmas with spends it with his young children and that's the way it should be.

Work is always busy and extra sad at this time of year, I only get a couple of days off but will be glad of time for a rest and chill time.

That said I've invited a few friends over for drinks and nibbles on the 23rd.

I hope everyone's Christmas is happy, healthy, peaceful and everything you wish it to be. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! xxx

A lot of priceless memories and this year a lot of sadness as my Father died recently.

Gifts given,smiles exchanged and people taking pleasure in seeing someone else's face light up. Shared time with family.

Maybe a time to reflect this year.

Christmas for me is the theft of the pagan festival of yule as Christianity spread via Roman invasions.

Christmas is mostly lost to society now.

Look at the number of people who say that Christmas will be a hard time this year.

What they mean is they have no money.

Therefor it follows - to me - that they are truly entrenched in capitalism and consumerism.

Surely it's people - not money - that makes Christmas.

Give back Yule any day. A one day midwinters feast with family and freinds which marked the passing of winter and the oncoming of Spring; based around day length not pocket depth.

So you have to tell the kids that there's not much money about? Tough. They have to learn about life. Maybe we shouldn't make up lies like a magical man in a red suit will bring exactly what they ask for. Maybe the disappointment is the let down by the liars.

I like being off work and partying. I don't like Christmas. Can't stand buying gifts for no good reason or getting gifts that don't see the light of day again. Love family and people.

I agree with you totally Granny. Though I do enjoy givng I couln't care less if I don't get any gifts (not that I get many anyway, lol). Spending time with those you love is by far much more important. x

It means back home to Scotland to see my friends and family. I have over a week up here and got a lunch arranged everyday seeing friends and a big family lunch today. Evenings are cuddled up on the sofa watching films with my mum. I do love Christmas in Scotland

Christmas to me is about my family. Its also celebrating the birthday of my daughter. This year being a special one with it being her 21st.

Christmas Day 21 years ago brings back memories of being in labour all day through to 10.50pm. I was well and truely fed up of hearing Christmas Carols on the radio over and over again

I completely agree with the above - although I will say I enjoy having all my family together for a time of laughter, fun, too much food and even more wine and just "home life" - it may sound unappealing to some but my parnter and I love it
