You lot probably already know the origin of a dildo, but I have just been enlightened to the victotian ailment of 'female hysteria'. Symptoms including aching loins, wetness between the legs, erotic fantasies and a tendency to cause trouble.

Doctors had to administer pelvic massage until the patient twitches for an instant cure. Could take a while.

Now Victorian ladies obviously soon cottoned on and wore out all the poor Doctors fingers, who began to complain of hand fatigue. Along comes a labour saving invention that the Victorians so loved.

D'you know, I read today that the first dildo were made out of stone with leather cases (to warm them up more) introduced later.

Well, the Romans had stone ‘lingums’ in their gardens which women could use to discreetly pleasure themselves.

To tip of the lingum was usually painted red. These are the direct ancestors of traditionally red capped garden gnomes.

Guess you’ll never again look at a garden gnome in the same way.
