A plea for non-binary questions

Life isn’t binary. People’s experiences aren’t one thing or the other. Here on fab all shades of sexuality can be explored in their complicated, contradictory, confusing glory. It would be great to see more threads reflecting this, rather than reducing topics to binary options. Just a better worded OP would often lead to more interesting discussion.

Do you agree? Yes or no?

I started a thread on my last account simply asking if gay men and straight men can ever be friends because the straight friend always assumes the gay friend is trying to shag him.

Five minutes later everyone was losing there mind. Arguing with each other and accusing me of sparking homophobia. Then I was hit with a permanent forum ban.

So you have to be careful what a simple thread can turn into.

I'm all for discussion but less than 1% of the population show gender variance to any degree. I'm one who did. The remaining 99+% seem fascinated by it, especially so on Fab. These threads never end well for the people that are part of the 1% and discussion is rarely what actually surfaces. It has pretty relentlessly descended into ignorance or outright trolling and usually they get closed down. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. With an open mind

I think there’s been a slight misunderstanding. I wasn’t referring to posts about non-binary gender, but the endless stream of posts asking questions such as ‘Shaved or trimmed’, ‘BBW or skinny’, ‘Spit or swallow ‘ etc. I’m really sorry to read that you have been singled out because of your gender identity. Such a debate wasn’t the object of the OP, just a plea for more interestingly phrased questions.

I wasn't offended in any way but the term non binary usually pretty much refers to gender. I'm an LGBT Officer for a large organisation so tends to make me take notice of those posts. But more interesting threads? Amen to that! And thanks for clarifying. Appreciated x

I’ve got straight mates who I’d pounce on them given half a chance. I think they thought I was joking though and it was all bants.

I’ve also got straight mates I wouldn’t touch with yours...
