Manchester Students Union has voted to replace clapping with “jazz hands” for fear applause might trigger anxiety.

My immediate reaction was WTF get a life ffs!

Anyone else think the same? Any other examples of modern life’s absurdities do the same for you?

It’s because of the poor little snowflakes that have been brought up in a bubble to keep them safe away from the outside world I would love to go there and just clap my hands around the campus for no reason just to see what happens

I am going to suggest this to all the supporters at West Ham United. I think that the players might be encouraged to perform better if 50,000 fans all waved their hands instead of making any sort of noise. I can understand how that may distract them and make them anxious when they are trying to kick the ball with their foot. This will not only give us an edge but some would argue a totally unfair advantage. *whispers YAAAYYY and waves hands silently*

Haha I remember my grandmother telling me that “a good dose of war would do you good”

I think the no clapping was to help people with sensitive ears such as those with autism. They could wear ear protectors so the many don’t affect the few.

She sounds wise.

I have Aspergers I hate noise crowds and smell. If I go to an event I expect it all so have to enact my coping mechanisms. I would not expect a public event to provide me with an exclusion zone and jazz hands.

Sometimes you got to suck it up or avoid.
