Is it just me or is this the most annoying word ever?! So many start a message with it. Nice legs hun/How’s your day hun. Just makes me delete straight away. Or I am just being picky again.

I used to call people Hun sarcastically to wind them up and now it’s engrained in me

Don’t tend to call anyone from fab it though (unless it’s ironic)

No I hate it too - don't mind someone I am seeing calling me honey or darling but total strangers calling me hun just sets my teeth on edge - particularly popular in Portsmouth.

There will be things that we all say that others find aggravating, annoying, cringey or whatever.

Hun is not the worse of those things for me.

Oddly enough plenty of ladies I have chatted to have referred to me as hun. I don't like it either but I give everyone a chance as we are all product of our environment. However on the whole people who have referred to me as hun have tended to also be people that I have found not so intresting. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating so I never exclude just because someone has said one cringe worthy word to me.

I had a male friend who would refer to me as son when we spoke on the phone.

Very strange.

It usually means I'm not gonna shag him if he calls me hun.

My shopkeeper calls me hun and gorgeous.

He's not getting shagged either.

Totally agree OP. Sounds sleazy and fake as hell.

Also hate this trend of people starting their sentences with "look" ... really winds me up.
