Hate mail off the forums

Anyone else ever get mails from forum lurkers who've gone out of their way to express their dislike for you? It doesn't bother me. Indeed, I'm flattered that I clearly feature so significantly in their thoughts. But I was wondering if it was a common thing. I can't exactly see myself being the most obnoxious character on here. So I'm imagining some of you lot must get this too.

If not then it's probably down to me spending a large part of last week teasing brexiters with the fact that the mandate for brexit doesn't even account for 1% of the population. So, some pissed off brexiters perhaps

I think most of those who disagree with me either voice it in the forums or just ignore my posts.

I tend to get more mail to the effect of a user secretly agreeing with me rather than them put that up publicly.

Quite a number of lurkers will send a private reply to me and I’ve struck up a few good contacts as a result. A lot of forumites judge a thread by the public replies. I find it fascinating how many lurkers engage, even if privately.

No I haven't but I did get a nice message from a guy who thought it unfair some trolls had run away with a post I made. The only time I have had a few ugly messages have been from guys who I have said no thank you to.

I'm glad it's not something lots of people get. I've only just started getting it in the last few days so I'm going to slate it down to my stirring on the politics forum about how if less than 1% of the UK population voted to stay instead of leave then it would've been a draw. Just some grumpy brexiters then

Oh I’ve had this (sort of). I’ll get asked why I’m chatting to certain formites (just interacting with them on the forums) and then they give me their opinion of them and how I ‘should’ be interacting with them.

It's up to us to report abusive mail or comments on forums. The moderators can't be everywhere at once and follow every comment on every thread. If you report something it's admin that picks it up and deals with it.

Trouble is, guys realise there's 3 ways to be noticed on the forum.

1. Post every passing thought until someone comments.

2. Post inflammatory opinions in the hope someone gets angry, try and belittle them to make yourself look clever, then pretend they weren't really your opinions at all.

3. Talk about cake, get in the friend zone, then see if you can get a fuck by being "such a nice guy".

If a new guy starts a thread with a simple request or observation, he is largely ignored.

9 times out of ten, these techniques work 69% of the time.

I avoid controversial topics altogether. I'm here as an escape and to have light hearted fun. I think there are much better platforms than fab to have discussions on touchy topics that could attract hate mail.

That being said, if they hate and attack you instead of debating you they're not worth your time anyway

I have random blocks - no idea why, I’m guessing it’s because they think I’m a twat.

But no direct hate mail sent to me.

Although I did have a spate of indirect hate messages from a fella who was upset when I met some ladies he wanted to meet before he did, last time I was on here. Apparently he was telling everyone I was barebacking the whole site .. it was only when people messaged me about what he was telling them did I ever find out!

People shouldn't post inflammatory threads. After all, the forum is supposed to be a bit of fun...

They used to be so much fun.

Trouble is, guys realise there's 3 ways to be noticed on the forum.

1. Post every passing thought until someone comments.

2. Post inflammatory opinions in the hope someone gets angry, try and belittle them to make yourself look clever, then pretend they weren't really your opinions at all.

3. Talk about cake, get in the friend zone, then see if you can get a fuck by being "such a nice guy".

If a new guy starts a thread with a simple request or observation, he is largely ignored.

9 times out of ten, these techniques work 69% of the time. "

That being said, if they hate and attack you instead of debating you they're not worth your time anyway "

I’ve only ever had this once, and it made me laugh to be honest.

The comment I made was so small & insignificant but it hit a nerve with him enough to send me a nasty message.

Haha, it’s happened a few times, but I’m a lover not a fighter. That usually happens on the forums with blokes hiding behind there couples account. It’s pretty transparent, why they’re venting !

Although I did have a spate of indirect hate messages from a fella who was upset when I met some ladies he wanted to meet before he did, last time I was on here. Yes the random blocks also but in many ways I think that can be a positive thing.
