all over the place

I have sat quietly and watched the forums for a few weeks now and despite the odd thread which was controversial from the off,all has been generally ok.

But i have noticed often and experienced it a few times, that some think its OK to snipe at people they don't get on with, or to say anything they wish as long as they put a smiley after it.

In fact the smiley appears to have become the get out of jail(hey ref i was only joking) card to mask a veiled attack on an individual.

so is the smiley overused to pre-empt intervention by a moderator .?

But i have noticed often and experienced it a few times, that some think its OK to snipe at people they don't get on with, or to say anything they wish as long as they put a smiley after it.

In fact the smiley appears to have become the get out of jail(hey ref i was only joking) card to mask a veiled attack on an individual.

so is the smiley overused to pre-empt intervention by a moderator .?

In 'normal' life don't people often use a smile at the end of a sentence to indicate sarcasm? It's the same on here. Sure there are people who don't get on with each other on here but if they used open verbal warfare they'd soon be banned and that's just no fun at all is it?
