"I usually fancy chip shop fish and chips after I've been too ill to eat." Maybe for the best if you try to avoid falling ill in Dudley if that's the case.

"The chippy by me makes rank chips, thank god, otherwise i would be in there more than once a year" That doesn't seem to stop people using them though. Greeks and Cypriots run the best chippies. Bangladeshis run the best curries houses.

I can't think of any reason why I would be in Dudley, so I'm safe " The canal scenes in Peaky Blinders were filmed there. It's got a zoo, a castle, a shopping mall the size of a small town and the best chippy in the whole of...erm...Dudley.

"One of my sons recently invested in an air fryer. It can literally cook chips without oil or fat. The same with fish, and with duel heat even jacket potatoes. This must be a much healthier option, and the chips are very tasty too. Which is good because I like my chips, especially with mushy peas. Lovely!" Surely oven chips don't have any fat on them anyway? I cook most of ma food from fresh then freeze portions of it

I slice up my own spuds & might give them a squirt of fry light (or very often not) & just put them in the oven. Cooks absolutely fine.

" Scenes for Peaky Blinders are filmed at The Black Country Museum, the museum is an excellent day out with its own on site fish and chip shop which are very tasty! As someone has already pointed out the chips are battered it is nothing to do with lard and faggots and pays are not compulsory, born and bred in Dudley and I've never had any. The health blackspot in the midlands is Walsall which is a lot nearer to Lichfield than it is to Dudley!

"Are chips the staple diet of the average Northerner? Not sure about that. The nicest chips I’ve ever had were in Northern Cyprus. The tastiest chippy chips were in Rotherham " Dudley is in the midlands so it's not in the north of the country!

"The chips on Yarmouth Market are amazing. Making my annual pilgrimage there this weekend to see some friends and will be getting my chip fix Saturday! I've never had black country chips but I want to try them now! " Have a day out at the Blackcountry Museum and sample the on site chippy too, well worth it.

" Facts don't seem to be the Op's strong point 1. Dudley is in the midlands not the north. 2. The orange chips are battered not cooked in lard. 3.He thinks the average northerner ( is there such a thing!) lives on chips.

Distance from Lichfield Cathedral to Dudley Zoo: 9.9 miles. Although, work takes me to all of the Midlands town centres, Walsall is up there with the worst in terms of appearance.

"When I have the time: Maris Pipers. Peeled, chipped, washed (remove starch) Boiled for 5 mins. Onto kitchen paper stuff, on a baking sheet, paper on top, into freezer. (20 mins). Into chip pan 130 degrees, 5 mins. Paper, freezer, baking sheet, 20 mins and all that shit. Chip pan onto 180 degrees, cook for 5 mins or so but don't over load the chip pan either time. Dry with paper. Sea salt and pepper and chuck a garlicky steak on your plate. Crispy as fuck, crunchy like a bastard and yet fluffy like a mofo They are worth the effort" I think you've got OCD mate
