My other half and I were in our fluffy dressing gowns over our clothes yesterday as we were cold. We just couldn't turn the heating on...but today is another day.

Can I just ask why you refuse to put the heating on till October? A few people have said this. If it's cold why not put it on?

I made the mistake of a fortnight in tenerife at the very end of august ... was still pretty warm here when i left ... the temperature probably only dropped a little and gradually if i had been at home ... but it was a shock to the system going from 30 to whatever it was at home ... heatings been on ever since

We had first frost today too

It's got naff all to do with being a miser. I'm a single mum,I have the Manchester social coming up (priorities first and all that),my daughters 18th birthday and the dreaded Christmas to pay for.

Until I meet my incredibly old near death husband I have to be a little careful. It's good to get your body a little used to the cold anyway otherwise you'd never step out the door in the winter.

I whacked the heating on for a quick hour blast yesterday. Doesn't need to be on all the time, just takes the edge off.

I would wait as well but thankfully my heating is included in my rent. Agency switched it on last week in our house so I put a radiator on in my flat 2 days ago when it was too cold and windy.

"I don’t think it’s cold yet. My windows are open and the heating hasn’t been on "

My kitchen door is permanently open for the dog. Crotchfruit have learnt how to over-ride the heating. They know how long it takes the radiators to cool down so they think I don’t know. The smart meter gave them away
