The people who say this usually seem to be the ones with the most to hide.

Is it guilt that makes people scared of being judged by strangers?

Yes, as I feel guilty to love shagging in American or Korean cars and not in Vauxhalls and I don't like them judging me for doing so and not supporting british economy.

I only say it over my love of girly 90’s pop music. (B’witched, Shakespeare sister, Hepburn ((remember them)) don’t judge me.

Judge away otherwise, but you’d need to know the full story if you think your going to give me your opinion about anything that I think really matters. And people rarely do.

I, Myself used to criticise people, but I don’t really know what or why they do something without getting to know about them or what they do more. You know?

Yes that all makes sense to me.

I find people's judging me depends on how well they know me, as to the extent it bothers me. If it's something I feel shit or guilty about it might bother me more than something I don't care so much about.

I always smile a bit when someone says "don't judge me" then goes on to ask your opinion.

What they really mean is "I'm going to tell you something I feel is a bad thing. I want you to tell me I am right."

When I (mr) hears this it usually says to me, don't Judge me until you've heard the full story.

Sometimes the sucker punch first line is a precursor to something that the teller has experienced and needs to say without being derided in some way or other.

We all have an opinion but in many cases, it can be overturned when the full facts are known.

Being a good listener is a sure fire way to be a better judge of someone, but they will no-doubtingly be subject of some form of judgment nonetheless.

I find 'don't judge me' to have many , many meanings depending on context.

It's a little like the word Fuck..... Fuck me ..... Fucking hell..... Fuck you.... Fuck off...... The context and the relationship to the Fucker are all.

I don't use 'don't judge me' ..... but I DO use ' don't YOU judge me' as in ....... Who the fuck do you think you are? Or as in ...... I don't value your opinon ..... or get a life ...... or be a little more introspective ....... or mainly ... just ... you fucking controlling, manipulating , self loathing clown .... Fuck off

Judging isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s how we do it that matters. We all form opinions based on what we see and hear, it’s inevitable but on Fab judging someone is seen as a negative thing when really it’s more about how you use that judgement that makes it negative or not. But then what do I know?

Totally agree with this. I have to judge people all the time. Will I be safe with them, will they be fun, are they telling me the truth? I can come to positive judgements or negative ones. So often people saying those words are about to tell me something really crap.

I only really hear that phrase on fab and it's usually from people without outrageously badly ideas / fantasies / 'preferences'. People that have no concept of scale or ethics. Then tend to think "society think swingers are bad, so I can come on fab and say anything because a swinger could never tell me otherwise".

If you don't have a clear definition of who you are and what you believe in, then it's all too easy to become what others tell you, you are.

Sometimes we don't like their definition, hence the don't judge me comment.

I've been judged, but I've learnt that asking not to be, makes no blind bit of difference!!

One of the contexts in which the statement is used is where the keyboard warriors online will attack a person for something that they have said or done. So the phrase is used to say 'mind your own business'.

However it can and is ofter extended to the situation that regularly occurs online (especially on Fab) where people will put a comment up expecting affirmation and are surprised when they receive opposing views that they did not expect.

Because I am into fetish I take the view that your kink is not my kink but I respect your right to do it. However the rider to that is, don't expect me to like it or want to watch it.

Last year on a famous fetish site a woman started a thread complaining of being judged of her love of two types of kink play. The first I can't mention on Fab (but relates to her being a woman) the second being Nazi uniform play. If you are into the second type of play I will judge and you are off my Xmas list.
