The right place

Just agree not to send each other presents. Tell them to spend the money that they would have spent on you on something they want.

We’ve done a hamper like thing for nans.

Get a nice box/basket, tissue paper in bottom. Then using tea/coffee, nice biscuits, jam, chocs (whatever they like) do a nice display. If you can get cellophane on a roll wrap it with a nice bow.

When you have a lot of people to buy for you have to start early.

Manchester (she/her)

Skincare (like a nice hand cream), some sort of pampering or a voucher for that sort of thing (massage/ facial, or one of those electric massage things)? A hamper of unusual ingredients or spices? Nice stationery if they use it? Upgrading or replacing towels or sheets?

Whilst she was studying at uni and skint the best present I ever received from my sister was a simple tin full of her handmade cupcakes.

I’m always disappointed now she’s grown up and buys me expensive shite I could really do without.

That’s it, I’m gonna message her and tell her I want cake for Christmas

I prefer gifts for myself that people have made rather than something they have bought. If you really are short of money makes some cookies or xmas tree decorations or give a promise certificate for a service you will carry out over the year - babysitting, cleaning car, cleaning oven, taking shopping etc.

You've got to know people to buy them meaningful but inexpensive presents, and I've never met any of them.

My parents don't want anything because by the time you're in your nineties you've either got it, had it or have no use for it. I buy my dad a tin of biscuits from Marks and Spencers (Christmas shortbread and Christmas continental currently half price at a fiver) and my mum some decent hand cream. This year I'm also making and embroidering half a dozen handkerchiefs each for them. Are any of those ideas any use?

I find that spending a little time and effort wrapping gifts really attractively makes it a real pleasure to receive rather than the cost of what's inside.

It does remove the stress and cost doesn't it. We buy for my parents, one friend, our two children and any partners and each other. If possible we get it locally or on line.

Great ideas folks, tbh I never spend a fortune on Christmas.

In past I have made presents from Chutney, jams to biscuits. All have gone down a treat before. Just thought I'd do something normal this year

Was just looking for inspiration

I'd like a book, something to put in my bath, a bottle of something alcohol that you drink from a small glass, chocolate I can eat in the bath with my drink, pyjamas and fluffy slippers.
