Normally we have a selection of two or three meats (normally between beef, turkey, gammon or lamb)

This way everyone is a winner!

Mine never is either, it's how you cook it. The only reason we are not having turkey this year is because we won't be needing cold cuts as we are out on Boxing day and fly out of the country on the 27th....

In the olden days you didnt get turkeys it was a goose or a cockerel. Then when turkeys came about they where seen as an extravagance so people only had them at christmas.

Prefer a nice piece of beef myself

I love Turkey! Put butter under the skin to keep it moist and cook the stuffing seperate as it adds to the cooking time which means u will get a dry bird

Most people complain of dry turkey because they overcook it.

You want to stick a lot of unsalted butter under the skin, cook until when you stick a knife into the fattest part of the breast it is hot when you pull it out (can use a thermometer if you are so inclined). The most important thing with Turkey is to let it rest! 40 minutes as a minimum but an hour is better. Cover it with a tea towel and it'll stay warm until serving time!

"I cant abide the stuff , i have heard sooooooooooo many people say the same yet year in, year out they consume tonnes of the stuff! Why if you dont like it? "

Because if I wanted beef (My personal preference) I would have to stay at home alone to eat it, as my family cook dinner and on Christmas, I would rather eat turkey, with them, than beef, alone

I like a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings for christmas day, boxing day it's a roast rib of beef, again with all the traditional trimmings.

No idea what it will be this year though as I'm in Austria for christmas week. Whatever it is will probably be washed down with a bucket of Glühwein!
