We had an interesting discussion about it yesterday, that the more positive and good thoughts you have, will automatically drive you to a good path in life as what we do now have a chain reaction of future events and consequences, whats your view of it?

A positive outlook certainly assists, although it's not the only answer and even us jolly types aren't infallible.

No. Positive thoughts influence how you react though. We all know those negative people who moan about every, damn thing. They must be terribly unhappy. Being positive just makes stuff easier to deal with and people nicer to be around.

An example, I know someone who when you tell her you're going on holiday her stock answer is "but it will soon be over" . How much nicer it is to talk to someone who replies "ooo lovely, where are you going?"

The right place

Positive thoughts are more likely to cause positive feelings and also a more positive response from other people. This is more likely to result in positive things happening. It’s a virtuous circle.

It doesn’t mean bad things won’t happen but we always have a choice as to how we think.

It’s the basis of CBT

I chose to take early retirement in part due to the negative thinking of my colleagues. Its very difficult to contend with and almost impossible to change. When they see me they say with long faces "you made the right decision"

Damn right I did, I don't have to sit and listen to you bemoaning your fate whilst making absolutely zero effort to change your circumstances.

Positive people will try and alter things, negative people just flaming whinge.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Always look for the positive in every situtation. You'll also find the more postive you are the more others will be drawn to you.
