Not any more. The industry was told it wasn’t allowed to reduce prices based on sex. Discrimination apparently.

I think that common whiplash claims should be outlawed. 90% of the claims are bogus buts it’s just the done thing to claim. Modern cars are designed to absorb a certain amount of force meaning the body doesn’t have to. Each driver could sign a disclaimer accepting the risk of minor injuries and only claims for serious injuries such as broken bones or cuts etc are claimable. The CICB did a similar thing a few years ago (criminal injuries) and they have strict guidelines for injuries they pay out for and set amounts. If whiplash was done away with the savings would be huge and premiums would reduce as a result.

Couldn't agree more, somebody slightly clipped me a few weeks ago, my first ever fault accident, and stopped 20 yards up the road, didn't even feel the impact, took me 10 mins to polish and repair my car, they are currently claiming for various life changing injuries despite shaking hands at the scene and saying oh well at least nobody got hurt and only a tiny bit of damage and a solar text from them that evening. Scam artists extraordinaire. Although I actually think the insurance cos are to blame.my own insurance company that I pay for my insurance called both of my passengers up and asked them if they wanted to claim for injury WTF. So touting for claims against their own insured drivers. Great work if you can get it.

Greed of course. Making something a legal requirement and then leaving private companies to supply it means those companies don't have to fight each other to be the cheapest. Instead, they agree among themselves as to charges making sure that no one company is competition for the rest.

Insurance brokers = money grabbing Bastards.

I hate paying for insurance of all types. Generally you pay a monthly fee but get no reward.

Its all a con

It’s horrendous. That’s why I think whiplash should be done away with. People go on the dodgems and suffer worse impacts and do so willingly. Do away with it altogether and that’d be that.

Central

Different jobs alter the rates, plus being married vs single - the former is lower.

Ensure you are not over insured for what you need too. Using comparison sites will often get insurers increasing their prices, as they perceive increased demand.

Especially when I already pay in excess of £1800 a year and get really poor service in return. I've been waiting since good Friday for a new windscreen in one and they still insist I have to use autovlass despite them taking 6 months and turning up twice with the wrong windscreen.

I've actually quoted that, to a cold-calling-ambulance-chasing-patronising jerk. He said that I must've been superman, to not got hurt. I wasn't in the vehicle at the time! Phone call soon ended.
