Silly lay down bikes

What are they all about? You know the type, very low and almost laying back to peddle them. Just seen one at Calais, they look like hard work. You never see a woman on one. Always a man and usually middle age plus, thin with long grey hair and a beard. Perhaps it’s always the same guy?

They're called recumbants, and yes I have one.

I couldn't ride a standard bike after my back surgery so that was my only option for a year.

They make look 'silly' but are very comfy & bloody quick!

As I was typing my thread I did wonder if there was a medical case for them so I stand corrected. It’s just that I have never seen a woman on one that made me think it was a middle age man fad thing. Happy cycling to you and apologies for thinking them silly.

As for medical a lot of people use them for that reason, one of my sons has disabilities so has a recumbant trike.

Others just use them as they prefer that style.

I've had the honour of being a support rider for amputees & those unable to walk on several H4H charity rides.

The determination & bravery of some people has reduced me to tears.

Thanks He is a great, determined fun guy, I’m just disappointed I’m missing out on the ride this year. He’s one of the ones that will make it fun

At first I thought the post was about silly women who just laid back and took it from lots of guys.... lesson learnt, read the OP before forming an opinion!
