So - not necessarily your favourite film - but your favourite film finale?

I watched mine last night with friends and a takeaway.

For me it’s got to be Dirty Dancing!

From the moment when Swayzee walks in and says ‘Nobody puts Baby in a Corner!’ Until the end - the hopeless romantic in me is released and I’m hooked! The horny dancing doesn’t hurt either!

Silence of the Lambs. I always remember the 1st time I watched it as a teenager and was completely shocked when they were at the wrong house and she was at the right house. Gotta be a top movie for me.

The original cliff hanger.

It was meant to be the opener for the never-to-be-made sequel. Where the Mafia bring in two cargo helicopters and with a large steel cable cradle the coach back onto the road and reclaim the bounty as theirs...then the film begins.

One that springs to mind is Birdy. It’s an Alan Parker film from the 80s, has a great soundtrack by Peter Gabriel, and Nicholas Cage actually isn’t shit in it. Basically about a soldier back from Vietnam with PTSD and thinks he’s a bird, and won’t talk to anyone. Nicholas Cage goes to see him to try and get him back as it were. Doesn’t sound all that, but I remember loving it when I was younger, and it’s a great ending.

That and the last scene in Lost in Translation, with Just Like Honey by The Jesus and Mary Chain playing: the perfect ending to the perfect film.

The Riffs new leader says “you guys are good,” Warriors leader says “the best.” Then Riffs leader says “leave the rest to us,” then you just see them closing in on The Rogues, and hear their leader (Luther) scream like a bitch.

True, but you should see the French version of TAXI, not the Queen Latifa one. Goodbye Porkpie is a kiwi road trip film with a red mini and a nod to that Matt Monroe scene to boot.

The last half hour of The Color Purple. Celie fights back, Shug Avery and the choir procession, then the huge reunion at the end. For a film that is extremely dark in its first three quarters, you're left broken by the time hope arrives and that emotional release... it kills me off every time I watch it.
