Top Ten Christmas Films?

A recent poll somewhere revealed the top 10 Christmas films are:

1. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) 17.83%

2. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) 10.19%

3. Love Actually (2003) 7.57%

4. Elf (2003) 5.94%

5. Home Alone (1990) 5.73%

6. Miracle on 34th Street (1994) 4.92%

7. White Christmas (1954) 4.21%

8. Die Hard (1988) 4.1%

9. Scrooge (1951) 3.68%

10. Santa Claus (1985) 3.18%

Personally, I have never seen Love Actually as I cannot stand Hugh Grant and Martine McCutcheon, and am not a fan of Home Alone.

I would replace them with Scrooge the musical with Albert Finney, and Scrooged with Billy Murray.

I too am not sure why Die Hard is considered as a "Christmas" film. If it can be considered as one, then IMHO, Trading Places should also be considered as one, as I believe it has a stronger Christmas theme and it is a great film.

My top 3 would be:

It's A Wonderful Life

The Muppet Christmas Carol

Scrooged

little house on the praire

Its not actually a film, it only lasts about 15 minutes. But it used to be on every christmas and so sad. It was called the little match girl. Dont know if anyone remembers it

1. Wonderful Life (1946 all time favourite)

2. Miracle on 34th Street (1947) Brilliant!

3. Loads of other "proper" Christmas films mostly in black and white. But including the Muppets Christmas Carol and perhaps Grinch. (and loads I've missed)

4. Any film that is about Christmas.

But NOT... Home alone (any)??? Lethal weapon! Die Hard? In fact, no violent films at all, even if they pay lipservice to Christmas!

when my eldest was little she loved muppets christmas carol, we watched it every day, upto three times a day all year round, i think i know ever single word to the whole film, even after all these years its still stamped in my head lol
