Masked and Distant

Take strength from the support of those around you who care for you.

A horrible thing to go through (we did 12 months ago). Sadly something we will all have to go through.

Back where I belong

Been there, done that, but you get through it.

Take each day as it comes and don't bottle up your feelings. Men are allowed to cry, it's not a weakness.

Hugs and kisses xx

Nottingham/and everywhere my location says i am ;)

As hard as it may seem right now, but take joy in the gift that was given to you in your dad.

Remember the laughs, the wisdom, the bullshit, all the good things that made him your best friend.

He wouldn’t ever want to know what’s happening to him is making you sad. We have to remember who they are in our hearts and that way the live forever

I feel for you.

You will get through, we all have.

Spend as much time as you can with him now. When that time comes, try to remember that it'll be a release for him. No more pain, no more medication, no more being prodded and poked by strangers.

Draw on the support from friends and family around you.

It's been nearly 14 years since I lost my dad to cancer. I haven't grieved properly and still miss him.

Time does heal and makes things easier to deal with.

I wish you all the best op.

There are so many of us on here and in the wider world that have been where you are now and all our hearts go out to you.

Im so sorry for you and your dad.

Rite now ull propbably be wishing you could go with him?

This is your Dads journey that he must travel alone.

To be able to allow your Dad to leave you is going to need you to find strength .I know i can hear you saying ,"but i dont want to let him go"

I know you dont want to let him go its unfair cruel and painfull.

Its your dads journey to take , its his last journey.

I would find every ounce i have to be happy and to bring photos in ,music he likes, books newspapers anything he did on a daily basis and share it with him .

Id want my dad to be happy to feel calm and relaxed .

This is something you can do for him . Try to make this lighter for him. Do you see?

You have a job to do while ur dads going through this.

Know youve done what you could to make this time for him a little bit of normality.

Bieng in a hospice or hospital if he is i dont know is so clinical. But comfortable and safe for him.

He can hear what you say . He can hear music .

My dad had non hodgkins lymphoma , he liked the horses.

Every day id read through the horses races for the day and hed tell me which horse to bet on . Id know how much he wanted in different races.

Id read his readers digest too him when it was the evening as this is when hed read it ,even when he was vomitting i carried on reading to him.

Thankfully my dad beat it .

He said afterwards .

Thanks for taking the clinical out of it and letting life carry on as i wanted it to if only in my head .

I hope you can find ways to take ur dads mind of whats going on .

Again its something that you can do to bring a sprinking of normality to this otherwise shitty reality.

Ill be thinking of you both .

I would think most of us have been touched by cancer. I am supporting my sister in law, at the moment, with terminal cancer. Remember the happy times you have spent with him and spend as much time with him, as you can.love and hugs xx

You will feel like this, very natural, just go with it and make sure you look after yourself too. There are professionals you could talk to also, who can guide you through this

I don't know if he is having end of life care, palliative care, these are the people who can explain everything to you and what is going to happen. You can't stop the process, but I found it useful, when my mum died
