Does anyone think there aren't any horror movies about vampires anymore?

I know that there haven't been any for a long while but it would be interesting to see a new horror movie that would possibly revive the vampire genre.

I recently came up with an idea for a vampire horror movie just now which does have elements seen in other movies like Scream and Fright Night (1985).

In this idea of mine, in a suburban town, reports are coming in of individual people being killed in the night and being found drained of blood. A group of people try to unravel the mystery and find out who or what is behind the murders only to find that they soon become prey to this evil vampiric entity.

Once they find out what they are dealing with, they try to come up with a way of killing this vampire but what they don't know is that this one is not like any other vampire we've seen before. This one can not be killed by anything we've seen before in movies, not even by sunlight, silver, stake in the heart, bodily dismemberment or holy water.

Vampires had it right all along as scientists have discovered that young blood stops age related illness, old mice given young blood got better and improved and young mice given old blood became ill and died.

Somewhere In The Ether…

On the relevant subject, there’s a new series starting on Sky One (in place of Lucky Man this Friday) featuring vampires and witches;

‘The Discovery Of Witches’ which is apparently based on a book of the same name and from the trailer at least, looks watchable enough although I can’t guarantee it....

The vampire in my movie idea does have abilities like stealth, shape-shifting and imitating voices and it uses them as an advantage to stalk and hunt it's prey.

Somewhere In The Ether…

In light of the success of last years first part of the ‘It’ remake, there is now much talk in Hollywood of remaking other Stephen King works.

Most interesting (for me at least) of those tentatively proposed is apparently a remake (actually, technically the second remake no less) of his classic vampire story, Salem’s Lot.

As a huge fan of the original two part series starring David (Hutch!) Soul in 1979 and additionally quite enjoying the Rob Lowe remake from 2004, I would personally love to see it done again, hopefully better emulating the original source material this time out

Well they're making the witcher game into a netflix series, not too sure if they'll follow the blood & wine story but could be interesting...

The only decent vampire film in the last decade at least for me is "30 days of night", at least in that one the vampires were menacing and scary, not like the shite in Twilight etc

The Deborah Harkness book? I think it was meant to be a trilogy, but was four books.

Sorry for quoting myself, just looked back. It was three books - they just felt like four! There is a spin-off book coming out in September though.
