It's probably something to do with the accent. An Irish accent on a lady is very attractive.

Similarly, I hear women saying to me all the bloody time, 'I love Yorkshire men and like nothing more than covering them in gravy and devouring them.'

Oh wait a minute, I've got that wrong. It's actually Yorkshire puddings they say that about.

What do you think it is then?

Most of the time I hear women (and men) saying they like the accent, although I do agree there’s different accents and not one ‘stereotypical’ one.

From the people I’ve met and worked with some of the Irish men are the cheeky chappy loveable scamp stereotypical type, but not all of them (in much the same way not all Liverpudlians are either)

Maybe it’s the stereotype that people like?

As with any race or nationality there will be good and bad in any population!

The accent and the charm. They are more like Latin men (Latins in the rain, I think they have been called) as they have a certain way with women

I actually do say that about some Yorkshire men too.

Lived in UK for over a year, heard people say they didn't like Irish people more than say they did.

So if it happens its basically just flirting and not a generic thing that irish people are loved. They might say to the next guy "I love tall guys", or "I love brown eyes"

The accent does have a lot to do with it, it always voted among the top in the world. How you view your own accent has little to do with how others will view it. People generally like accents from other areas above their own.
