Cold sores

I’ve now had a cold sore for the past couple of days. But I’ve noticed that the right side of my face is really tender to touch from the temple down to my chin. Also got like a dull ache in my gums and my ear is tender.

Silly question to ask but is this connected to having the cold sore. Never had this before

I have and is crap

Started using Zovirax when I got the tingling

But still ended up with a massive sore on my lip

Zovirax is crap, not enough of the active ingredient in it to work properly. Aftershave/perfume and a vitamin D tablet worked better for me last time I had one

sounds like two different things the coldsore and then tooth problem ? coldsore wouldn't create that sensation

Maybe you need to get it checked out incase you have shingles on your face, a friend of mine had shingles around his eye socket last year and said it was mighty painful

A couple of days before I get a cold sore the whole side of my face/scalp/jaw hurts so yes it's likely connected.

The virus travels through the facial nerves apparently.

My friend managed to get a cold sore in her ear her whole side of her favs swelled up & her ear nearly closed up. She was ill for couple of weeks.

I only get them wen I'm highly stressed & rundown u can get zovirax anti viral tablets if it's gone further into ur face babes x

You might have a tooth or ear infection.

See your GP and maybe your dentist. The latter can often be trained nowadays to pick up on other medical issues.

My new dentist in February, found visual evidence in my mouth of a Stroke I'd had in the past but didn't know of it at the time!

Extensive medical investigations traced it back to having one in early 2015!

Crush some salt, add a bit of clean water to make a paste then put that on it. Also good for rincing the mouth and gums. But yes see a doctor.
