I am excited as today I will start a course in cooking, to become a chef, my father is a professional chef, so got some inspiration from him, have you changed what you have done too later in life?

Best of luck with that shag, If you can enjoy something in a new career then go for it, but for me even if its a new Interest and it sticks with you then that as to be a good thing, as you get older you realise more what you like and what you don,t.

left school and was a bookkeeper and eventually doing accounting.

Then got bored and did mechanics...

Then got fed up of getting cold and wet under cars in winter and trained as a psychologist..

Now training to do something else. Go for it x

Would love to change careers.

I’ve been looking.. but finding one at my age without taking a major pay cut seems impossible.

Started a new career 7 months ago, took a huge pay cut and earn the same money as I did when I was 20 but I know it will pay off in the long run

Yes...I have changed my career a few times..

Now about to start looking for yet another one..

Don't know what to go for yet lol! I actually did a detailed psychometric test....and it more or less recommended the two careers I'd already had!!

I started as a chef at 16, now 52 and I've done. Chef, military, outdoor instructor, youth worker, sports development, farming, restaurant development, owned a business and on to my second business. I just see that if a door opens, I walk through it.

I had one short, but spectacular career.The second was a rollercoaster revelation to the human condition, and my current employment isn't what I'd call a career but it's mostly fun..I think you are never too old to change, especially if it's to something that actually interests you, so good luck.

Currently doing my degree so I can look at job role change.

I like my company and sector but I know I can do more than I'm currently doing, so while not a complete career change I definitely want a job role change.

Working in IT for 27 years, took voluntary redundancy and became a photographer for about 5 years, then went to university to do a Criminology degree and now work in a Secure Training Centre with young offenders, aged 13-17.

I earn about half what I earned when I was working in IT but I'm far happier.

Maybe careers are a little too important at times. I had one and walked away. Best thing I ever did.

If you love what you do it's never the career that's important it's waking up every morning knowing your doing something that satisfies your mind your soul and makes life more fun.

A friend of mine used to be fireman. After twenty years he decided he wanted to become a chef.

He loves it now and the hours he works still let him work as part of a lifeboat crew in his local town.

So any idea of a signature dish lol.

I am now back, the course started 6pm and finished 9.30pm, it was fun, the first dish we did was an omellete with poached egg and a fried tomatoe that we carved out and inside we put a cream mix with herbs, we also carved out a zucchini and we filled it with chopped peppers and we fried potatoes that would be the omellete with 6 eggs, it was very tasty, the good thing with the course is that they will help you to find a job
