We had an interesting discussion about it, for example, would someone that are christian be able to show off their belief with the cross on a chain, or any other religions doing the same, is it a certain profession that allows it or not, whats your view?

I think the workplace should either accept all religious symbols or none.

I think people in certain positions should not be allowed to preach or evangalise.

I think religion is the cause of a lot of the worlds problems, and although I respect people wanting to wear a symbol pertaining to their beliefs for whatever reason, it's probably more likely to cause more harm than good.

I think it’s all doing with diversity inclusion and feeling belonging in the workplace. And people are allowed to believe what they want to believe there should be no discrimination against anyone for something they believe in. Specific professions I think big tech organisations work hard to provide diversity inclusion and a sense of belonging in the workplace and they fight against harassment and abuse in any shape or form .

Yes to a certain extent. Something like a cross and chain or a little bhuda on their desk. I dont think setting up a shrine in the corner or preaching to your work colleagues is acceptable

I don't think ANYONE in any position (other than a preacher) should be allowed to preach at work, period.

I have no problem with people wearing symbols or even talking about what they did (at a retreat, etc) at work, as long as they make t about what THEY did, not what others should do.

I'm easy with most (everyone has the right to their own opinion), but get a bit passive aggressive if someone tries shoving it down my throat. Someone who tells me abortion, sexuality of some sorts, etc is wrong -- I'll find a badge, t-shirt and banner to display of the opposite.

Always strike me as being a bit odd.

Some companies have a dress code. I think the ECJ found recently that a ban on religious Symbols was discrimination.I think it was over a crucifix worn by a air stewardess.

Religious symbolism does not have to be overt.

It could be personal and invisible.....

A ruler could symbolise the hours of the day, or span of a lifetime

A pencil could symbolise that your words and actions will be recorded and we will be rewarded for the good we do in life

A mouse could indicate the journey through life, the people we meet, and the way we choose to interact.

And a coin could indicate the importance of charity and being kind to those less fortunate than ourselves.

So, ordinary everyday items could take on a whole new meaning.

No need for blatant religious symbolism, which just divide people.

Displays of belief aren't appropriate in a professional environment. The first people to complain would be the proud and loud Christian if their colleague started wearing satanist regalia into work

I generally subscribe to the philosophy of:

"Treat your religion like you treat your penis...it's fine to have one and it's fine to be proud of it - but don't wave it around in public and for God's sake don't ram it down kids' throats"

However...I have recently become aware of the Church of Bacon, which definitely something I can get behind, because bacon is good and bacon is real.
