Has anyone ever taken action against their employer for workplace bullying/discrimination?

Having an absolute nightmare since blowing the whistle on a managers dangerous actions last year.

So hard to find somewhere for advice without paying a fortune for solicitors

Citizens advice should be able to help.

Is there an Hr department at your workplace?

Might be worth documenting anything you feel is discriminatory in a diary

Yep. It took a year of complaints before I took my concerns to three outside organisations that it was taken seriously. Not much happened - she is no longer my senior but works in the same job, just in another area. They just moved the problem.

She bullied me, all the staff, she gossiped, was horrible and picked favourites with the children and disregarded the rest. And worse things I was off work for a month and a half in May because I couldn’t physically work with her, and she was under investigation and knew it was me who had blown the whistle.

Take it as high as you can. Be consistent and show that you won’t drop it easily.

Speak to CAB for free advice.

Do you have a Union?

Have you approached your HR dept, if you have one? If they are toothless, make sure you get their responses in writing.

Document EVERYTHING..Times, dates, witnesses. Keep it factual.

If the worst comes to the worst and you have to leave, you will have evidence for a possible constructive dismissal case.

It's a shit situation.Good luck.

I'm in a similar situation myself and ithe sucks. Document everything. And then present a grievance of discrimination to your company. But be prepared for a shitstorm afterwards

It's a tough road but you will be able to face yourself and that's the most important thing.

Unfortunately HR business partner and my Service Manager are the perpetrators of said bullying/harassment so it's pointless taking it to them.

ACAS have been great but they're very broad with their advice. I'm going to have to take a day off to see CAB but given the stress they're putting me under at work I've no choice. I can't continue with false allegations, threatening emails at 10.30pm (we work regular business hours so no reason other than to cause distress and alarm), threats to deduct wages illegally, annual leave refused without reason and now reasonable adjustments reccomended by Occupational Health refused without explanation!

That's not everything but I don't want to bore you!

I have taken a previous employer to ACAS over an issue relation to non payment of salary (the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) -very helpful and also helped me claim compensation on foot of me being unfairly dismissed because of making said claim -PM me for their web address

Unfortunately this is far too common and many work places won’t or can’t deal with it effectively.

I was a victim on bullying at work and it got so bad that I kept a log of incidents and then raised a formal grievance. Things got better for a couple of weeks and then it started up again. I went off work sick with stress and never went back. I didn’t follow up and take things further as I was just glad to be out of there. Sadly, my experience has completely soured my opinion of an industry that I worked in for 6 years and loved. I will NEVER return to that industry again

Most of the time, even if you're in the right, you'll lose...even if you end up winning the tribunal, it often ends up tarnishing you and making things difficult in the future.

I turned whistleblower at work - grassed my boss up for fiddling the figures - the consequence of which was letting incompetent people qualify as electricians, even though they couldn't terminate cables properly and would be a fucking liability to the safety of the public - and nobody gave a shit.

No-one wants the hassle of actually having to do their job or manage a difficult situation. And HR are the worst for it!
