Just spoken to the TV licence people and told them to my knowledge no one is watching BBC..(I live in a shared house) As all from other countries. I was told even they watching live TV from a foreign country they still need to pay the BBC the TV licence. I was shocked I said so while they are watching a program made and paid for in Romania.. BBC gets the funding for it. I could them a corrupt mafia run business that our government is allowing. And said if the general public tried to do the same thing it be illegal. Anyway will be getting a letter to say that we not be required to pay the licence but if anyone in the other rooms is found to be watching TV live no matter where from in the world on their laptop they will have to either setup and pay the TV licence or pay a £1,000 fine.

I’m sure the low paid call centre worker at the TV licensing people was delighted by your call and will escalate immediately to the Senior Management / Government ministers that actually make the legislation.

Don't speak to them, don't contact them, if they turn up at the door say nothing and close it.

The clowns have no right of access and you need to be "caught", with proof, watching live television. How are they going to do that when they aren't getting in your house?

Yes someone has told me this.. I guess it's even harder in a shared house first they got to get into the house and then into each room which are locked...knowing my luck I be the idiot that answers the door when some knocks at it thinking it might be post or something

Your 1st mistake was contacting them.

IGNORE THEM.

NO PHONE CALLS.

NO LETTERS.

NO EMAILS.

NO COMMUNICATION OF ANY KIND.

IGNORE THEM AT THE DOOR AND JUST SLAM IT IN THEIR FACE.

One other thing you must do is just totaly ignore them.

And if you still think that wont work just fukin IGNORE THEM!!

Didn't there change the law regarding the TV licence and isn't it not a civil rather than criminal offence, ie the BBC themselves would have to take a law suit out against you?

She said it is a the law that we must pay a licence of we watch live TV or stream via BBC iplayer. If we are able to watch live TV from any county then we have to pay them. But she did say we do not need to pay if we watch YouTube.. Netflix or amazon prime.

I am guessing this includes pornhub and other free porn streaming sites but didn't ask and I didn't ask about the kodi boxes

This is the first time I had to deal with this as I am room sharing and always have for the last 10 years. The landlords in the past have always paid it to my knowledge.

Best of luck to him I live in the Normanton part of derby.. Kinda looks like a poor Eastern country mixed with Indian shanty town. Not many good houses here worth selling

Not all of the money goes to the BBC btw.

I don't have a licence. Haven't done for the 6 yrs I've been here. Rang them, told them I don't watch live TV, or now use the catch up service. Have an exemption letter. Renew it by a phone call every two yrs.
