Honestly, black and white can come as a bit pretentious. Sorry if you have them, guess it's worth a try and not all of them do, but not my preference.

I used to prefer black and white because it hid a few imperfections, then I just stopped caring as much about that and prefer living colour now. Black and white pics can be nice though, they won't put me off a profile nor particularly attract me to one.

I like black and white, hides minor imperfections, and isn't quite as garish as colour when it comes to close ups of body parts.

Some photos work better in black and white and some don't. Black and white can enhance a photo but just sticking a black and white filter onto a colour photo doesn't automatically make it a better photo or make it all seductive and arty all of a sudden.

If I'm going to go for a black and white photo I tend to have that it mind before I take the photo. That way I can make sure I get the right sorts of contrasts and lighting in an image that will make it work better in black and white.
