"Go a week without milk in your coffee and you won't be able to go back. Easiest thing I have given up. " Just be aware that black coffee leaches calcium out of your bones and can cause/exacerbate osteoporosis if you're not taking in calcium through some other mechanism. Fortified milk alternatives and leafy greens are good sources.

"Homemade almond milk. Milking almonds must take ages. That's real precision work " It’s actually no bother at all! Soak almonds that are in their skins in water overnight. Then throw the drained nuts in a food processor with fresh water and blitz them and the liquid will go milky coloured. Then just pour/strain through some muslin, leaving the nut “meal”, and pour in a decanter for the fridge. Yum. The meal can be spread out and dried in the oven on a baking sheet and then used to make energy balls with cacao nibs, dates etc.

"You never go back, or so they say. But because of my lactose intolerance I can't enjoy cappuchino any more. Any suggestions for a dairy free alternative which doesn't taste like shite?" Have you tried goats milk, seems the molecules are nearer to humans milk, so not such a problem. works for me. as for taste, semi skimmed is hard to tell the difference with cows milk.
