Okay fabbers

Technical question.. what is a reasonable distance in this country for dating? Back home in Texas, distance is a whole different scale, but I've notice here people think 50 miles is too far. So what is a reasonable distance?

Acceptable distance is directly proportional to the sum of the levels of desperation, attractiveness of the other party and the amount you've had to drink... Or so it seems.

I'll happily travel anywhere in the UK for a bit of romance, as long as the object of my affection has a Helipad not too far from their gaff

I'm not willing to travel more than 15 miles or 30-ish minutes from my house for a first meet. If it's someone I know them maybe upto an hour away.

I prefer repeat meets to one offs to the distance definately comes into it.

I know I need to be more flexible as all the people I want to meet are Manchester/Leeds way..

I've been told that willing to travel a long distance puts women off, because apparently, agreeing to travel to meet you could give the impression of expectation, not my view!

Any distance is reasonable if that person is worth it..

Far too many use distance as an excuse for not meeting whereas for me it's all part of the adventure

Sometimes you can't help who you connect with. I would be willing to travel a fair distance

7 hours one way was my travel last weekend...

I’d travel the length of the country if they are worth it...I love seeing different parts too.

I get this. There's then a feeling of pressure to play. I've had guys want to meet me from London and I don't accommodate so if we did meet and get on really well.. there isn't really the option of going back to theirs..

OP there are no rules, everyone does things differently depending on their own personal circumstances.

For those who live in more rural areas travelling 30 miles for a meet is nothing but for those in big cities 2 or 3 miles is enough.

I will only travel up to an hour away. I am the primary carer for my mum and need to be pretty close to home in case of emergencies.

Dating I would guess I would want to be pretty local within 10-15 miles or so if I wanted to do dating type stuff without much hassle. A 'meet' seems to be any distance can be bridged

Distance really isn’t an issue for me. I have no expectations of what may or may not happen on a meet. I’m looking to experience new people and places. If I connect with someone in Scotland then it would be a weekend away where I will do some sightseeing and also arrange a social or the person I’m meeting can be my tour guide.

We live 220 miles apart and we always found a way to see each other every weekend at the beginning. It depends on how far you are willing to go and what it means to you.

Since you raised it, how many weekends now?

They aren't just numbers, they become a chore and hindrance, in my opinion.

Well it's almost been a year now.

Chore and Hindrance to you but it's the part of the week that I look most forward too.

I prefer someone in my local area but I would happily travel for someone I was meeting repeatedly and fairly frequently once I had got to know them. I have done so before and we made weekends of it which was a lot of fun

To be honest when i say distance is no problem it depends on the frequency. I wouldnt want a boyfriend i hardly saw. I live near three milatry basis and when i was younger a lot of my friends married military people. I wouldnt want a relationship if i never saw them

Distance is a no for some and a yes for others.

I guess if you see it as a chore then you'll never meet anyone too far away. In my opinion that limits your options.

I've always seen distance as nothing but a great chance to visit other areas.

It depends on how you see it yourself.

Travel if you want to, don't if you don't

I dont ‘date’

I don’t ‘meet’

BUT if I did then a 15 minute drive.

If I had more time then distance wouldn't be an issue at all. As it is the most I have travelled is a 6 hour round trip, and would do again.

For something more regular it would have to be within an hours drive way.

I’ve had 2 serious relationships which started as long distance, ended up marrying them both!

In both cases we met online and started dating, seeing each other at weekends. In terms of distance, it was about 50-60 miles away for both relationships. It was done by train which took minimum of 1.5 hours as I couldn’t drive back then. When I first started seeing Shaggy it was almost guaranteed that the trains would be delayed meaning a missed connection along the way and a longer journey.

Dating or for a fuck off a casual sex site?

2 very different answers for me for the above.

If it was someone I loved and felt that she was (or could be) the ‘one’ no distance would be too far.

For a fuck off here? Ideally no more than an hour away. I’m much more prepared to travel to watch my football team play than chase a NSA fuck to be honest.

Dating I aim for about 60 minutes maximum, once dated someone who was approx 2 hours away and there was an emergency and took me nearly 4 hours in traffic, decided then and then 60 mins on a clear day was my limit.

However if the distance was greater, and the person could be the one as they say, there is no distance.
