The pool is about 10 yards in front of me and the beach 20 behind me

Life is hard

Beach, despite the disadvantages of sand - the sound of waves lapping, less likelihood of your personal space being invaded, huge swimming area, looking for sea creatures in rocks etc.

I don't like the chlorine in pools or the screaming kids at close quarters, or it being so crowded you can't swim properly, and that's before you get on to sun bed wars and idiots who divebomb without looking out for anyone else!

Beach every time. Snorkelling is frowned upon in the pool.

If it’s shingle a beach then yes. If it’s sand then it’s the pool.
