Now that I have left the North West, baked goods are back to normal. It’s always a roll and a tea cake is, once again, a sweet, current filled bun, yummy toasted. This is most pleasing.

I’m a big fan of soft baps.

But when it comes to bread, it’s a roll innit?

Oooh, now that’s quite interesting; you’re bloomin’ spot on with that. Cobs are also bigger than rolls. (You wouldn’t have a cob on a side plate in a restaurant in the 80s, but you may have had a roll).

If it's crusty it's a cob.

If it's soft it's a bap.

If it's got seeds on for a burger it's a bun.

How does anyone go into a bakers and ask for sausages on a roll without being given a sausage roll.

Well, on the packaging up here, it says barmcake. But they are a specific size and shape and traditionally baked at the bottom of the oven.

Bread roll, but if anyone mentioned bap or cob, I'd know what they mean.

A bun is sweet and I've not come across the others!
