My heart just stopped

So I’m on a overnighted at work only two of us here both sat watching tv.

The building is 200 years old and was once a hospital for children.

Staff have said stuff previously strange things noises etc well I heard it for myself a door slamming and foot steps.

How am I gonna sleep now.

First go through all the rational explanations. A door can slam due to a draught, heating or hot water pipes contracting or expanding can sound like footsteps.

Once your mind is full of something like this it’s impossible to shake. I had a similar experience the other night walking home. My house is on the grounds of a former hospital.

Children are mischevious. Just throw a ball, if they throw it back, you know it wasn't a draught and can sleep when you get home

Find a used tampon. Put it next to you.

Sounds disgusting but it works.

If it’s a kid, mom them. Discipline them and send them to sleep.

You’ll need a lot of concentration and confidence when you give them commands

My brother used to live in a flat in an old chapel of rest, his back garden was a graveyard. Both his neighbours and my brother regularly heard banging on the walls....have you ever tried to knock on a two foot thick solid stone wall, you don't get a lot of sound....

I have to work nights too in an old building when im on call ... ive heard some strange noises and not been able to figure out what it was ....put the radio on or tv .... your mind plays tricks on you especially if you are tired .. good luck
