Why is blocking such a hot subject amongst people? There seems to be a lot of people offended that they get blocked for not replying to messages. A few questions to start off.

Why does it offend if youre not interested?

How do you feel if you're blocked for not replying for whatever reason?

In what way does it really matter to you?

Surely people can use the site functions however they wish to use them.

This is to be non personal and hopefully some good points to help understand each other.

After all you could unmute them.

I agree entirely, I’ve been blocked a couple of times, but don’t know why. I sometimes think it would be nice to know why, if I caused offence I’d love to know!

Think there is a lot of truth in what you say.

There seems to be a few who are using the block as a filter for those who show/demonstrate no interest. Helps to narrow searches for those who are and some feel it's unfair they can no longer view or maybe change their mind in the future and have that option given to them.

I've never blocked anyone. It just closes doors for ever and we all know that's a good thing, because nothing ever changes, does it.

Those who block me. Their choice and I have no insight into the mind of another who i have probably never met, so why would it ever matter to me.

This seems to offend a lot. Arguments about not replying there and then because it takes too long with hundreds to go through, I'll read later and send a longer reply are a few some give.

Maybe Fab needs to reconsider the often requested... automated reply button with a couple options like 'no thank you', 'not atm', 'I'm interested and will reply soon'.

I find it funny when some messages go wrong and someone finishes with a 'well your blocked now'. Am I meant to burst into tears or something. Feels a childish response from a supposed adult.

Being blocked for other reasons doesnt bother me either. I'll never know why so cant give it a moments thought.

Blocking doesn't bother me. you know where you stand. reading messages then having them deleted that's no problem as you know their not interested, but having messages read but not deleted and no reply is a tad annoying, however I can appreciate the single females must be snowed under with messages!

Delete your sent messages as soon as you've sent them, you won't know what the recipient has done with it then. It only deletes in in your sent box, it still gets to the user you sent it to.

Would one then remember or context of what you said? Does you sent message reappear so you can see?

No it won't but if you tick the delete photo when read box when you send the message the photo will be removed.

Occasionally, when I’ve been chatting to someone and getting on well, then we exchange face pics and they block without a ‘Thanks but you are not for us’ it feels like a bit of a slap. I’m a big girl, just tell me I’m not for you. I’m hardly going to chase you round fab begging for a meet. So on those occasions it feels a bit cowardly and like they don’t trust your emotional maturity to deal with a ‘thanks but no thanks’.

It doesn't mean a thing but I've had a couple of people feel the need to tell me that they've blocked me because of something I've said in the forums, which I find a bit odd.

Not odd that that they felt the need to block me but odd that they felt the need to tell me. It's like they're making sure I know I'm blocked in case I don't look at their profile to find out.

Those people seem a bit up themselves.

This is old...And has been resonated too often.

The answer to that is simply...allowing the receiver to be nice and polite and if it's a no thank you...Then the sender is prevented from replying. Simple...But the simpler things are often the things most don't like.

I think it's a mix of things -

It's not typical behavior in our culture

Some people have grand assumptions. They've shown a festering cock pic and assume the shags in the bag

Others are somewhat clueless

I think for many here, it can be so tough to get any interaction going that it's a massive deflation event when it happens, followed by a block. Projection of their emotional baggage follows.

As many people use fab in isolation, they've no one to share the devastation with, so they rant

I do the same thing, i also block peeps that look at my profile and when i read their profile it's obvious we would never talk or even meet. It saves me loads of wasted time that way. Sometimes i also block peeps that have looked at my profile in stealth mode and then sent me a message asking for a face pic.............really ? A conversation first would actually help.

When you block someone, I think they no longer appear in your search (i may be wrong here as I only joined the site 7 weeks ago). Perhaps someone else here can clarify. So in that respect it can be used as means of filtering out people who you might have contacted and where they have confirmed they are not interested. In this scenario, blocking is not meant to offend just a way of ensuring you don’t accidentally contact them again at some point in the future. Probably more useful method for the ladies who have to manage a higher volume of mail..

I wouldn't mind being blocked it would save a lot of time. As a poster above said if I look at a profile or fab a pic, they look at me and aren't interested, then fine block me. It cuts out the pointless message that i might send.

I did block someone who sent 12 messages in a row over an 8 hour period whilst I was at work, I got home and blocked them only for a few hours later them make another account to send more abuse haha!

Admin dealt with them!

Being blocked doesn't offend me, but i do find it strange when you have exchanged a few messages with someone and everything seems to be going well then bang like a bolt from the blue you find on trying to reply to their latest message you have been blocked

I cannot understand that someone cannot simply send you a message saying "sorry but we have changed our minds", it seems like a common courtesy to me.

Being blocked doesn't bother me unless we have been chatting then it makes me wonder what i did

What does bother me is the rudness of some replies that get sent theres no need for it a simple no thanks takes seconds to type even for a fat thumbed idiot like me

I suppose from others who have a different view they could say it's the opposite... taking control, empowering and therefore a positive move forward rather than looking behind and wishing what if. New avenues opening up with more likely possibilities from those who show an interest. I suppose it may also depend if one knows what one is looking for and focuses on that."
Well I suppose I agree to a certain extent blocking people who's profiles you look at who totally the opposite of what you want but do many of us do that? Most blocks come from things said or pics sent and generally it's the women or couples that block, I wonder if they would block so easily if they were the majority and men were in short supply, it's a fickle world is fab but it is what it is, try not to dwell on the negatives and enjoy the positives

I usually have no idea I’ve been blocked so no offence taken.

I think I’ve only been blocked by one person I’ve met which was a little confusing at the time. Others blocks I’ve picked up along the way are from fellow forum users - I guess I’ve said something that’s pissed them off...
