"How many here keep a diary. Not a boring work one, detailing meetings and the like, but a thoughts and feelings one. It has been suggested I do, but is it embarrassing reading it back? Or is it useful for inspiration and reflection. Or perhaps a place for filthy secrets and desires to pour out " you'll be only person that reads it so why?

"I keep meaning to start a journal. Not necessarily to re-read, but just to get the shit out of my head and onto paper. It's like therapy." Yes sometimes I can think up a gem of wisdom in my head and think it would be a good idea to hold onto it

"I used to for a few years back in the early 80's, but I soon got bored with it. Memories are made of this www.youtube.com/watch?v=NS2k43NJycE" I've just learnt to copy and paste. I can do this link

"I’ve been told it would be helpful if I did one. I sort of do one already. I work split shifts so after each shift I write how it went, how I felt, if there was any problems what I feel I could have done etc. Just for my own sanity really " What does it say about me?

"I like journalling my thoughts. I have a tendency to have a few thoughts. " I bet you need a library to keep them all in. Do you use them to go back too, or more just to clear the thoughts from your mind and free up some space.

"No diary for me. Just memories. I'm not sure that the sometimes jumble in my brain would ever transfer well to paper. Not sure I would ever want anyone else to find it either." You write well, when you let yourself believe.

"I kept one as a teen and one of my siblings got hold of it and loved teasing about what I’d written. I also kept one for a year post divorce and re reading it, is always a good reminder why I made the right decision. I think they’re good therapy. " Oh gosh yes, big sisters were an absolute pain for finding things . It feels quite therapeutic just letting things flow. X

"My teenage son writes things down and then folds up the paper and they go into a sealed box. At the end of the year he can either choose to read them and see how things have improved or if he already sees/feels positive changes he just throws them away. It's helped alot over the past few years with his BESD and Attachment Disorder" Interesting thankyou, and glad it's helping your son. Xx

"I often keep one, I tend to write about arty ideas and plans of all sorts, as well as general thoughts and experiences. If you're a type of person who is inclined to dwell on things, I think writing stuff down can be very therapeutic. It helps to get things out of your head, so to speak. " I am a bit of a dweller and things tend to just keep swilling round yes. I love doing lists of plans and projects and ideas too so could use it for that too. Lists barely ever get done but Im happy that the thought is there

Allowing them to be real.

"I do and find it quite therapeutic,a way of getting things off my chest so to speak." That's what I'm hoping for yes. Give the thoughts their own little place in the world, out of my head

"I’ve been thinking about doing this, I even bought a book the other day for it. I think it would probably be a good idea as it would be helpful to get the jumble out onto paper then put it away. " It needs to be in a proper lovely book too I think. None of my notepads quite cut it. Excuse to buy more

"I use an app called universal diary. I don't write in it everyday. I mainly use it when something is really bothering me and I need to get it off my chest and haven't got someone to talk to. I find it difficult to express my feelings to people so this is my way of doing that. I use it for good and bad stuff. It's good to read back and reflect and more often than not it reminds me of how strong I can be when I think I'm at my weakest. " I don't find it easy to speak in person either, I cant quite manage to get out what I want to say or I just burst into tears. It's good you find it helpful to read it all back then xx
