Discuss!!

Sometimes I read an interesting thread, I like it, I've got a _iewpoint, I wanna join in. Until I see the very last word:

Discuss!! (Complete with exclamation marks).

That one word instantly gets me annoyed. How dare people tell me what to do. Sod off I'm not discussing now.

Does it annoy anyone else, or am I strange. The 'discussers', why are you putting that word. Does the action of starting a new thread indicate that people probably will discuss without being told. Or do you think it finishes off the opening post nicely

Lol - it reminds me of exam questions....

where they give a statement and then say discuss.

I look at it this way

This is a forum. Most people understand that when a new thread is created, then the 'reply to post' button is a little indicator of what to do.

I bloody hate seeing that word at the end of an opening post. It makes the OP who uses it look a bit 'cocky' in my eyes

Perhaps we hould finish off opening posts with "Now feel free to engage in a mass debate"...

"Perhaps we hould finish off opening posts with "Now feel free to engage in a mass debate"..."

Which is usually followed by a General Erection...

Too early in the morning for any discussions

Leave me alone until I've had at least 3 cups of coffee

Angus & Findhorn

I find it funny, especially if they say 'discuss' after asking a question

and more often than not they don't give their opinion/answer...

rather they sit and wait to see what the majority say and then go down that line.

god bless all contributors ( I am very chilled today )

Although its not my crumble button….!.

I do regard any instructive use of the word“ Discuss” as an invitation I’m more inclined to avoid….!.

I don't like being told what to do when I come on here for fun

Being told to discuss something will make me not want to,so I won't

Yeah I don't like it either, sounds like an 'instruction' as opposed to an 'invitation'

The people who use the word probably don't mean anything by it at all, but as soon as I see it, it irritates me
