Good Coffee

I thought I was a big coffee addict until I witnessed how certain cafes in central & eastern Europe prepare their coffee by using drippers/glass flasks/filters.

I then received a gift of one of these and I actually can't think about drinking bad coffee from the usual places Had 2 coffee makers previously and I've sold them both.

Anyone else been enlightened or give their own personal choices?

I've worked in a big coffee place

Learnt how to make coffee, measure the coffee, frothe the milk correctly for each individual type of coffee.

Also having drank coffee in different parts of the world,I don't settle for mediocre coffee.

Local place here does very good coffee.

My favourite place.

That escalated quickly! Is that always what happens?

During one of my meets. I was told: in this city we don’t drink brewed coffee but capsules only....

Sexy isn’t it?

Not at that point. I wanted to see what more has she got.

Long story short we don’t talk anymore.

Perhaps I should add into my profile: no capsule or instant coffee drinkers lol

Hahaha. I quietly disagreed with her. I know other locals who drinks coffee other than out of capsules. I think, sometimes we think of things depending on our surroundings and people around us. Perhaps her friends mostly drink capsule coffee, not mine. Hence there’s a different opinion.

Making a good coffee is an art.

Something obviously not taught to the employees of Costa, Cafe Nero and Starbucks.

Schools should start teaching us how to make coffee from young. Understanding most of us needs at least our morning coffee to survive.

Some of the knowledge we learn from school doesn’t get us a job to survive

A natural progression? I'm ever the optimist.

This is true that it is an art! Unfortunately the employees can't do much if Starbucks have a 1000 calorie frappuchino for €6 on their menu.

It's probably like a member of cabin crew working for Ryanair but they're actually interested in the aviation industry and hope to work for Ethiad one day

Last month I went into a Costa in the south east where the "barista" made me a latte consisting of espresso from the coffee machine topped up with cold milk straight out of the bottle

Gosport

I am, somewhat impatiently, waiting for the delivery of a fluidised bed coffee roaster so I can try home roasting. It is something I backed on Kickstarter so its anyones guess on when will actually be delivered.

As far as brewing coffee I resort to a french press for work but use a 6-9 bar manual lever press at home and when travelling.
